Champagne Lifestyle on a Lemonade Budget.

My champagne moment was sitting down after doing a lot of boring housework this morning!;) The house feels a lot better, though.
I have another concert coming up this week. The last one of the year!
I have loads of concerts to look forward to in 2020. I have 10 of them lined up before June.:rotfl: Luckily all of the tickets are paid for as we seriously have to set a much stricter budget in the New Year.:T1 -
my champagne moment was watching my Daughter Graduate again today. A BA Hons 9 years ago and a Masters with distinction today. Her Dad would have been so proud.
I was apprehensive about travel. I made the journey yesterday by train to Reading and stayed over. Everything that could go wrong did. I got wet through after I left my car to walk to the train. I got to Preston and my train was delayed. I was told to stay on the train to Birmingham new st instead of changing at Wolverhampton. I had a seat reserved but due to the change I had to stand up. My Daughter was making the journey by car from Colchester and there was an accident about 15 cars in front when a crane type vehicle overturned. I finally got to Reading and arrived at the Ibis only to discover we had booked into separate Ibis 5 mins apart and I couldnt change it! She had told me to book central which I did but her Husband had booked the other! anyway all went well, ceremony, celebration fizz, lunch, and only about 20 min delay at Manchester then home. Tiring but worth it1 -

Sheila. Congratulations to your daughter. and well done on persevering with the dreadful journey. It will be something to look back and laugh at......eventually.:rotfl:
Just giving myself a skin peel whilst I type. A beautifying session before I go out ........
Have been painting the fire surround......it's taken 4 coats of undercoat so far, covering up that horrid fake mahogany.
Hard work, but It will be worth it the end. I can see it looks better already.
Have a great day.....1 -

Sheila congratulations to your daughter. She must be so proud of her Masters with Distinction. :j:D:T
It is a real shame that you had a bit of a nightmare journey.1 -
Thanks everyone, I was apprehensive going alone but I wouldnt have missed it for the world. Last time she graduated my Mum, Mick and his Mum were there. My Mum and my Mick have now passed, just her other Gran (my Mother in law) now but she is away for the Winter in Tenerife1

You did well Sheila.....of course you were apprehensive, it's not easy doing things like that when you are bereaved.
It's not just the fact that you are on your own it can also be very emotional. As well as always being very much aware that your husband is missing out on the celebrations there is also the fact that your children are also missing their father too.
I had a lovely afternoon with my family ....my grandson is just coming up to 17 months now and starting to get interesting.
I don't mind small babies but I much prefer them when they start to become real little people.1 -
I was a participant in the local spelling contest, and came third
. I won a book
The first place winners will go on to the national spelling contest in January.
Our building had a team building event on Friday; there are about 9 different inter-related companies (federations and ngo's) in our building, most of the employees travel a lot, and one of the ngo's has 4 training centres throughout the country. So, most people don't know each other, and they try and meet up once a year. Good food, I learned how to graffiti, chatted in Dutch (native language) and French, and did a solo in the karaoke which got the whole room doing a polonaise. Very free and very enjoyable.
