The way i find things is to click on the user name, and then click on "find more posts" in the list that pops up, then scroll.... There is probably a better way, but I'm also a confused technolophobe so this took me a looong time to work outI can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
It's in the Health and Beauty section......:D. Don't worry I'm a technophobe too. In fact that's one of the things on my list for next year. Get more Tech Savvy.
Mrs S. thanks for the heads up on NOW. I'll take a look, sounds like a great deal.
I was scheduled for granny duty today, but they have all caught a lurgy and have put themselves in quarantine. Apparently it's really nasty so I'm staying away.
It's chucking it down so I'm going to stay home and make a start on clearing up the top bedroom.....currently it's a junk/storage room, hopefully one day it will be a glamorous boudoir.:rotfl:
Currently It's a mess and I can't find anything. I've been wanting to get stuck in there for a while so today's a good day.
Lovely to hear from you Ska......glad you are happy and enjoying the new job. Hope your poorly "little un" stays as well as can be. It's hard isn't it when our loved ones have long term conditions.
I watched an American documentary last night about a guy who has MS. His father, not a doctor but a scientist, had devised a diet which seems to be helping him......
The guy has had MS for 20 years, is still fully mobile and takes no medication. He and his father are not claiming a miracle cure - it's far too early - but they do seem to have found a way of delaying the progression of the disease. The medical establishment in the US didn't wan to know and when they set up a free website to disseminate their findings the Canadian MS society tried to shut them down.
Big Pharma again. - blocking anyone who dares to suggest that there might be other methods of symptom management rather than just relying on drugs which so far have proven ineffective in the long term.
These two guys are not the only people who have stumbled upon the diet connection, there are thousands of people who have made the discovery through their own research efforts and trial and error.
As you know my husband had a rare neurological condition - which may or not be genetic and my boys may or may not be at risk - so I take a great interest in the development of treatments for neuro conditions.
I firmly believe there was a diet connection in his case but by the time I found out it was too late, too much damage had already been done and it was irreversible. He had passed the tipping point.
I am becoming increasingly of the opinion that diet and lifestyle play a significant role in health, well-being, disease prevention and symptom management and that drugs aren't always the panacea that the drug companies would have us believe.
Oh dear I'm on my soap box again. ......but it is something I feel strongly about. This information should not be blocked, people should be free to make up their own minds on this.
If something so simple as eating a better diet can improve health then why are the drug companies getting away with suppressing this knowledge. Answer......MONEY and POWER.
Rant over......normal service is now resumed
I couldn't help my husband but I've done my damndest to educate my boys. They are trying to eat sensibly and stay well, only time will tell if they remain free of the illness that killed their father.
I try not to think about it.1 -
My Champagne moments yesterday were taking my daughter to Chiquito in Leicester Square for a late lunch and going to the wine bar in Herne Hill in the evening
I had a Groupon for Chiquito which cost me £24.95 which saved me £21.51 on the menu prices for our 2 course meal.I had a starter of chicken wings and a main of a grilled chicken breast, 3 barbecue ribs (I took them home in a box provided by the restaurant), onion rings (gave them to my daughter as I do not like them), mini corn on the cob, coleslaw and chips. My daughter had a starter of chicken strips and a main of the Texan stack burger with coleslaw and chips. I had a large bottle of sparkling water with my meal and my daughter had a homemade fresh lemonade. We both enjoyed the food and drinks, but they were nothing special.
We have had similar in Frankie & Benny's or Chicago Rib Shack that were better cooked, tasted better and were even better value for money, so I doubt we will be returning to Chiquito. Plus the irritating thing was service was very slow, with 8 members of staff working that shift and the restaurant was almost empty. The staff spent a lot of time standing around talking to each other rather than being attentive to the few tables of customers they were waiting on. My daughter left our waiter the £5 tip, as I did not think the slow service deserved a tip but as she works in the industry she will always leave a tip. I only leave a tip when I have had good service in a restaurant. The saving grace was that the restaurant is very well appointed and was beautifully decorated for Christmas.
I went to the wine bar in Herne Hill in the evening for Karaoke, only to arrive and realise it was a party night. :j It was fantastic.I danced all night, mostly sitting down though. I ache all over today, but it was so worth it.

Sounds like another great meal out though SUgarbaby.
I don't know how you do it, I'd be the size of a house. :rotfl: I have to ration my trips restaurants I'm afraid otherwise I would just pile the weight back on.
Anyway I'm firmly back on the healthy eating, a sort of combination of WW, paleo, 16:8. - Well actually usually 14:10. But it works for me.
Just about to cook myself a hearty brunch.....Full English, no toast. Yum, yum. Dinner tonight Wild Atlantic salmon (won't touch the farmed stuff). It was on offer in Sainsbury's.
Right time to get cracking. No more social media today.1 -

lessonlearned wrote: »Good job because I've had a little splurge this week, two gorgeous wool sweater dresses, one turquoise and one a plum colour, a nice Christmas wreath for the front door.....I know I know I should really have made one with found objects.:rotfl: but it was reduced and it is very pretty and it will last a few years.
I almost bought a wreath and luckily looked outside in the garden storage and realised I had one already! They do last for years.
I might look in the January sales and buy another one if I see a bargain, actually.:)
Anyway, so jobs still going well, I started a new job in August (after a near mental health breakdown in my old stressy job) - still the best thing I have done for myself this year - change jobs
That was a good move, it's really not worth wrecking your health over a job if you can help it.xxxlessonlearned wrote: »I watched an American documentary last night about a guy who has MS. His father, not a doctor but a scientist, had devised a diet which seems to be helping him......

Interesting. I found out recently that a childhood friend from school has been diagnosed with MS.:(1 -
My champagne moments have been enjoying my Christmas tree and decorations being up. I don't have that many decorations as I'm a bit of minimalist but the fairy lights really do cheer me up. It's feels very cosy in here now.
I'm about to curl up in my armchair and watch an old favourite show on TV - The X-Files. I'm getting my silver faux fur throw out of the cupboard too.:A
I'm really looking forward to seeing Liam Gallagher tomorrow, I've never seen him (or Oasis) live.:)2025 GOALS

LL I love taking family members for a meal to a restaurant that I can get a Groupon, a discount code and Quidco cashback for as it makes eating out affordable.Eating out is such a social event as well. We have so many good conversations waiting for our courses to arrive.
On the days that I go to a restaurant I do not eat lunch, I will just snack on a piece of fruit or two to keep me going.I find a 2 course meal quite large, so a lot of a time I just get the restaurant to bag up my leftovers. Then that is usually my free lunch the next day at home.
I can easily remember the time not so long ago when even Groupons for restaurant meals were being paid for by my younger daughter as I was receiving so little ESA each week. Now that I am receiving the correct ESA and PIP, I can afford to eat out a lot more often just as long I can get the Groupon of my choice, use a discount code and get Quidco cashback.
