  • I realised that it has been a year since I got money off vouchers for therapies so I can get another £250 from my husband's work. I'm thinking of having either massage, shiatsu or reiki this time. I've just been looking at the online reviews of the different places near to me.:A

  • My Champagne moment today was having a roast chicken dinner with my younger son in my home. I wanted to thank him for coming to my home to connect my Cannon printer to my new Dell laptop. :D I like cooking for my adult children, as they are very appreciative of my homemade meals. :D
  • My Champagne moment on Wednesday evening was going to Karaoke in Herne Hill. There were no other singers on the night, so the DJ just turned it into a dance night. I loved dancing to good music. :D It is always good to get some exercise while I am having fun. :D

My Champagne moment today was spending the day in Andover with my older daughter and my son in law. :D My daughter and I talked over our shared lunch, then we watched 2 comedy films and we almost split our sides laughing. :D My stomach muscles got so much exercise because I just laughed and laughed, so did my daughter. We have a very similar sense of humour. ;)

    Good morning everyone......

Time spent with loved ones are the best champagne moments of all arent they. SUgarbaby....Sounds like you have had some great ones with your family.

Wednesday, how fab you've got that voucher. Enjoy your therapy/pamper sessions.

    Speaking of which......

I have booked acupuncture (not particularly enjoyable :rotfl:), a hair appt and A visit to the chiropodist next week. Noting too exciting, just basic routine maintenance. Haha. I don't about you lot but the older I get the more high maintenance I become. ;)

Luckily I can do a lot of my therapy/beauty treatments myself. Today I shall be giving myself a facial skin peel and of course a yoga workout.

Big champagne moment this week.......New windows in. They look great and the house is so much warmer. Well worth the investment. Just one more to go next Tuesday in the spare bedroom.

I know describing new windows as a champagne moment might sound a bit strange but I do love doing up my house, making it both cosy and beautiful.

Concentrating on the house will be my main focus for the next couple of months.....really not that bothered about gadding about for now. I'm quite happy "nesting" for the time being. I did think about booking a sunshine winter holiday but I don't think I'll bother this year.

I have been thinking a lot about the changes I want to make and am going to set myself another 12 month challenge for next year.

    More of that later.....

In the meantime it's back on the WW wagon. Time to shed that last few lbs. just 5 weeks till Christmas so I need to up my game.

    Have a great weekend......
  • My Champagne moment yesterday was buying a ticket with my Odeon limitless card to watch the film Last Christmas at Streatham Odeon. :D

    ODEON says....

Kate harumps around London, a bundle of bad decisions, accompanied by the jangle of bells on her shoes, another irritating consequence from her job as an elf in a year-round Christmas shop

Tom seems too good to be true when he walks into her life and starts to see through so many of Kate's barriers. As London transforms into the most wonderful time of the year, nothing should work for these two

But sometimes, you gotta let the snow fall where it may, you gotta listen to your heart... and you gotta have faith

I really enjoyed this film. it is a very well written Christmas story with a surprise ending. I loved all the George Michael songs in the soundtrack which were the perfect music for the love story unfolding on the screen. There is so much humour in this film as well. I would give this film 9.5/10 :D
  • Went to the reduced section of the supermarket after 3PM today. The reductions weren't as good as they sometimes are but I picked up a very fancy salad for 25p (tomorrow's lunch), some asparagus (tonight's treat) for 15p, a bag of apple slices for 8p, a tub of melon chunks and grapes for 15p and a tin loaf for 20p.

I often eat like a king for a quid a day thanks to the yellow sticker sections and the likes of Home Bargains, B&M, Aldi and Lidl. You never know what you're likely to find but it makes life interesting.
Saved over £20K in 20 years by brewing my own booze.
Qmee surveys total £250 since November 2018

a champagne weekend on a lemonade budget

Friday played ceilidh at church family celebration (free, supper and a bottle of wine each as a thank-you) so we finished at 9. Took the band out for a drink (£27 for the round, I am celebrating next chapter, legal separation having just happened - these are dear friends who have seen me through choppy waters so refused offer of splitting cost) then onto my local (£11 for my round), walked tipsy friend home then myself so no taxi cost
Saturday lie-in (!) then mr T to stock up on non-perishables to use £6 voucher (£35) took mum and dd2 to lunch (£22) then magic lantern show (free) then book for book club (not available at library, so £13) then home for an evening of Giri / Haji courtesy of iPlayer (very good)
Sunday church then work (hadn't planned on work so didn't have packed lunch - boots had a tuna sarnie reduced to 50p) then catching up with friend in america online (free - he has invited me out next March so something to save for!) then compline choir rehearsal (free, cups of tea and yummies left over from a bbc recording the choir master had been involved with the previous day) then compline with a glass of red wine (free) then home for another episode of Giri / Haji (free).
So that's under £75 not including the Mr T shop for a wonderful and varied weekend.
Planning on a rather quieter week!

  • This will sound geeky but my champagne moment was coming up with a plan to save up money over the next year.

We are still considering moving house so we need to save up for that.

I'm going to set myself mini challenges. This week is not to buy any food and eat the food in the house we have already.:j

wow Gooey Blob, Well done you. Some amazing bargains there.

Dundee Doll your weekend sounds fab.....such a lot of fun for such a relatively low outlay. Fantastic.

I am aiming to take my DIL to see Last Christmas for her birthday treat on 18th December. It's become a bit of a tradition, she and I have what she calls "Girls Date Night", usually a nice meal and a chick flick. I like to spoil her a bit so she doesn't miss out having a birthday so near to Christmas.

Wednesday.....not geeky at all. Saving money/increasing my income is all part of my new challenge for next year........all will be revealed later.

I'm just still thrashing out the details but I have a cunning plan......:rotfl:

Miserable dark day here so just pottering about.
