Well done Ancient of Days.....bet that felt good.

Wednesday I love curling up with a good book. Glad you are enjoying your new armchair.

Well I had a great morning, pleased with my haircut, had a nice lunch and then picked up some amazing bargains in the chazza. Then for good measure popped into Primark for a mooch. It's a funny shop isn't it.....sometimes it's a load of old tat and then sometimes you can pick up some really nice things.

Today was a really nice things day. :D

No painting today.....After dinner I am going to start work altering and customising some charity shop curtains I picked up a few weeks ago. Take it relatively easy.

My Champagne moment yesterday was using my Odeon Limitless card to buy a ticket to watch the film This Day Shall Come at Streatham Odeon.

I did not really enjoy the film, because I do not feel that the fact that this film is apparently based on 100 true stories of how ordinary people can find themselves entrapped and branded a terrorist and ultimately incarcerated for very long sentences in jail was handled in the right way. :(

'An impoverished preacher who brings hope to the Miami projects is offered cash to save his family from eviction. He has no idea his sponsor works for the FBI, and the FBI plans on turning him into a criminal by fueling his revolutionary dreams'.

I found myself laughing at the sheer absurdity of the scenarios unfolding on the scene, even though I found the subject matter far from funny. This is a serious, political subject matter and I do not find it appropriate that it was reduced to a 'super farce'. :( I would give this film 4/10

This film was not well received at my local cinema, so only 2 weeks after it was released, it will no longer be shown at Streatham Odeon. There was only a young woman watching the film with me.

    Good morning everyone.....

Well SUgarbaby - that film synopsis alone would put me off. It doesn't actually sound like a bundle of laughs. Thanks for the warning.

Speaking of films I was playing around last night and discovered that I can still get Netflix and also my son has set up all the various catch ups. I now have Plex, Amazon and Netflix so I don't think I need bother with Now. Plenty to keep me amused........

My diary is filling up nicely, lots of outings planned, seeing friends and getting out and about. Apparently a little bit of sunshine is on its way over the next few days too. Even better.

There's an Italian expression....."A day without sunshine is a like a meal without wine". How true!!!

Right time for breakfast.....without wine. :rotfl:
  • Morning all!

For those who are looking to buy clothing or homeware for winter...

M&S have a very good deal on this weekend...it is 20% off clothing, beauty and homeware...and when they did this last year it was 20% off top off any other offer, so if you had a Sparks card with a 10%off nightwear offer, you could get 10% off followed by 20% off the same item...bargain!

You DO need a coupon for the 20% off, but last year they had a pile of the coupons at the cash desk - just check in store!...and the offer is limited from today until Monday.

I will be treating myself to a new nightie or two!...double champagne moment for me!...great bargain AND a size smaller!

2 nighties for me....and a pair of jeggings.

not in the 20% offer...but still made its way home with me was a bottle of trifle flavoured cream liqueur....a little treat for Christmas!

off to the jumble tomorrow...defo my champagne moments!! will update with my spoils on my return!
  • Good morning all - it's been ages since I've caught up with the thread and what you've all been up to. A combination of being busy with weekend guests for two weekends on the trot (which was lovely but exhausting!) and life taking over.

Great to see you are all still having those inspiring champagne moments - and welcome to the new posters!

One of the things we did when friends visited was see the Joker movie - not the sort of film I would normally have gone to see, but my goodness, what a film! It is shocking and horrifying in equal measure - quite gory in places, but the descent of the lead character into madness was quite brilliantly detailed. Joaquin Phoenix was outstanding. Not everyone's cup of tea I know, but it definitely is thought-provoking.

My new job is going well - I am so much happier than at my last one. I have a friend who is having a really awful time at work, and has done for some years - she has been there for a long time and is holding out for a redundancy payment. I completely understand she wants to get something out of her long service, but on the other hand I feel she could get a better job, and quality of life, if she took the leap. She is so strong - I don;t know how she manages to keep going in with everything that happens to her.

I have been very remiss on self-care, not eating particularly healthily (is that even a word?!) and not exercising, and last night I over-indulged in wine and pringles, but hey - today is a new day!

I am almost certain that next year I will 'downsize' my house - I think I can get an equally nice home for me and my son at a much lower cost. And I may even consider buying a doer-upper - LL you are so inspiring with what you achieve on a budget.

Not had much on the champagne front lately - those moments have been more of the 'human' side, for example chatting to one of the admin guys at work and hearing his inspiring story of how he manages to hold down a busy role at work and have three businesses of his own! I had a lovely chat with a checkout lady last night - her face absolutely lit up when I asked her how her day had been and what her plans for the evening were. I am really trying to be more aware of considering other people, and just generally being kind. Doesn't always happen - thinking of how a very stressful rush-hour journey made me feel very cross with a bad driver the other day  - but in general being nice to other people gives me a warm glow, and costs absolutely nothing.

It's a beautiful day here - I need to get myself up and about!

    Have a fab weekend all!
