    Hello all,

Champagne moment for me, was getting up super early and getting glammed up and (over) dressed for the office. I even wore jewellery which is rare, a fake diamond necklace and bracelet, and I wore a 1950s audrey hepburn style dress, with a small bolero over

Did my hair and make up and felt fabulous all day. However now Im wearing my mickey mouse Pjs haha

Popped in to see my son on the way home and took some cuttings from his money tree plant (see if I can make them work, but greenfingered I am not really)

Then I after work I got home to another parcel from ebay, a fabulous linen shirt and a very beautiful cardigan, very delicate, white with small blue birds on - I cannot wait to wear them

Now I am getting some nicer clothes, I am really taking pride in my wardrobe and even setting out my clothes the night before and enjoying working out what jacket goes with which dress or skirt. I am like a new person

    Hope you are all well

  • Ska Lover.....that sounds wonderful. dressing up and showing up each day seems to have such a miraculous effect on our day. And in the workplace it really can reap unexpected dividends. Studies have shown that it can even improve career prospects and increase our salaries. What's not to like:rotfl:

My champagne moments this week so far have been linked to the house renovation.

The bedroom revamp has begun and the kitchen and garden revamp continue. I have my trusty labourer helping with the garden on Sundays and my son for two or three days this week and next whilst he waits to start his new job.

It was so lovely working with him yesterday, not just because of the fact that he is helping me but because I really enjoy being with him and working together. He is such good company and we have some great mother/son chats. I really miss him now we no longer live together so it's nice to have him around for a while.

It's hard tiring work though so I am not bothered about socialising at the moment - for the next couple of weeks I will just be concentrating all my efforts and energy on cracking on.

Not everyone's idea of fun I know but I really enjoy rolling up my sleeves and getting stuck in. And of course the more I can do myself the further I can stretch the budget.

Painting the town red......ok a delicate shade of pink :rotfl: can wait for now. ;)
  • Champagne moment from yesterday - went to a fab concert (organ and trumpet) with gbf. Rather than concert then eat out I cooked something previous evening so we could have a pre-theatre meal at mine. Worked out really well, and he then kindly bought the tickets. Win win.

  • My Champagne moment yesterday evening was going to Karaoke and having a really enjoyable evening. :D

There were not many singers so I ended up singing 6 of my usual songs: Dream Lover, Hurt So Good, Return To Sender, Fever, Lean On Me and Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You. :D

I was bought 2 bottles of water by S and B which saved me £4. I only spent £2 on a bottle of water for the night. :D

I did not even pay bus fare, as I had reached the daily cap of my half price Oyster bus and tram card earlier in the day running errands, so a great night out for only £2. :D

LL I am glad that you are getting a lot more than just jobs done around your home from having employed your son while he waits to start his new job. :D

I miss my son not living at home even though I see him at least twice a week when he comes to visit. Yesterday he stayed for hours and it was lovely to have a talk and a laugh with him. He only left when I was leaving to go to Karaoke. :D

  • My Champagne moments today were using my Odeon Limitless card to buy tickets to see the films Downton Abbey and Hustlers

For all the fans of Downton Abbey the television series, I highly recommend that you get yourself to the cinema and see the film version as soon as possible as you are in for a real treat. I give this film 10/10 :D:j

Hustlers, which is inspired by a viral 2016 New York Magazine article, follows a crew of savvy former strip club employees who band together to turn the tables on their Wall Street clients.

Their scheme pays off and the women ride a wave of extravagance, living a life of decadence and glamour. But when greed gets the best of them, friendships are threatened and the law starts closing in.

Hustlers was an entertaining film with some really humorous moments, but it is nothing special. I would give this film 6/10 :D

The sun was shining in South London, so it was great to be out in summer clothing with my white Van Dal leather sandals today :D

Not sure when If I'll manage it this week but Downton is definitely on my list. I have been rewatching the tv series and have been loving it. I watched the last episode last night so I'm ready for the film. :D

Still ploughing on with decorating my bedroom. It's going to look gorgeous even if I do say so myself. ;). It's a bit of a slog and paint fumes do upset me but it will be worth the disruption and discomfort. Yes I could have paid someone but it would have cost a pretty penny and anyway I wouldn't have the same glow of satisfaction at a good job well done.

    No pain, no gain. :rotfl:
  • Morning all. Sounds like you've all had some wonderful champagne moments! SL - your outfits sound fab and you have inspired me to look on eBay - got a cardigan arriving today, and am watching loads of items! I 'need' some new clothes for work, what with the more relaxed dress code, and I am also shopping for my California trip! SB125 and LL - so lovely to hear about you spending real quality time with your sons; it's what life is all about :)

I've had a marvellous champagne moment this week - popped into the chazzer while out food shopping after work and found two dresses on the sale rail, £2.00 each. Thought they'd be perfect for my holiday - and one was a RJR! Went to the till (didn't bother trying on at that price!) only to be told they were now £1 each as it was the last hour before the shop closed! Tried them on later and they are perfect :j

I'm now 2 weeks into my new job and so far so good. Felt like I did some real work this week too ;)

Still not so good on the weight loss front - put another half pound on this week and I have done loads of exercise! So much so that it wiped me out on Thursday..I could hardly walk and was asleep at 9pm! Feeling better now though. Just having a coffee in bed (couldn't get to sleep last night so I've had a bit of a lie-in), then a bit of housework (although I have kept on top of it during the week so not much to do), then cutting the grass and spending some time working on my blog website.

Have a fabulous champagne weekend all!

    Happy weekend everyone!

Thanks LL, this 'dressing up and showing up' philosophy is really having a huge impact on me, my well being and mental health (which I have been trying to 'manage' for years) ..but I feel fab. Better than I have in years in fact, as I had a lot of stuff bogging me down, but fresh starts what with the new job / combined with my new outlook = like magic..

but hey LL, part of it is down to you, you taught me about dressing up and showing up - if we lived nearby - I would pop round with cocktails to show my appreciation!

And it has taken on other levels as well, as in my new job, I am lucky enough to have my own lockable room (some call it an office, but I am no fan of that word) so I have started up lunchtime Yoga.
I could do with losing a bit of weight but main hope is to strengthen up my core muscles/spine. It is an app and you can personalise even doing a ten min practice, but I am very much a newbie at it

MrsSlapShot - it has been great, the last few weeks, coming home to Ebay parcels some days - I have had some really great finds. I do love the charity shops too. I have worked out (I am not an IT intellectual, mind) but if I put the brand I want, followed by my size and click to search on 'ending soonest' - there seem to be some good bargains to be found..but you probably already know this hahaha

One item I had from Ebay which was not as cost effective as I initially thought, was a used condition winter coat. Lovely item, decent condition and well costed -but when you factor in the cost of dry cleaning it - I am not so sure if my £6 coat was such a bargain after all haha. I remember when you could get a winter coat dry cleaned for a fiver, but now-a-days it is more like £15-£17 round here. I nearly dropped when I rang a couple of dry cleaners this morning...So eventually I have ended up paying £23 ish, inc cleaning, on a coat that I could have perhaps brought new for £35 Oh well - I will know for next time...I guess some items are not worth skimping on

On that note - to all - what is the one item (dress-wise or beauty-wise) you wouldn't skimp on?

Today I am going to do some music practise (yay) whilst having the washing machine on (boo) HOWEVER I have noticed the local school (which happens to be at the bottom of my garden) are having a Fete - various bits, but a bit of a car boot as well, and because I can see it all happening from literally where I sit to type - I think I may have a meander. Just put a fiver in my pocket and if I manage to find a wonderful handbag or top for a bargain price (very unlikely) - well, it'll be good for me to have a walk in this glorious sunshine.

Have a great weekend all, and thank you for making me feel welcome on this thread, it is such a lovely vibrant community here xx
