Champagne Lifestyle on a Lemonade Budget.

Good morning everyone.
Champagne moments yesterday......made good progress in the garden......although I did snap the lawn mower cable in two.:rotfl: luckily it can be fixed. Phew!
Had a lovely evening out. Pub meal at a local Wetherspoons. Fantastic value, steak and chips with all the trimmings and a glass of wine, all for £9.25. A nice night out on a lemonade budget.
Tonight will be even cheaper. Local pub with live music, free entrance and free parking. No food, just a couple of low calorie tonic waters...so as not to wreck my diet.:rotfl:
Off out today, need to choose my gas fire and fireplace and get them ordered. Will run a few errands whilst I'm at it.
I need to take the car in tomorrow for a new cam belt. Approx £350:eek: Hey ho needs must. I will be carless so I will get my errands done today and then tomorrow I will have an at home day and crack on with some more decluttering and gardening.
Phoebe......your garden sounds lovely. This is my first summer here. I too inherited a wild overgrown garden. At the moment it feels more like firefighting than real gardening. The weeds are relentless because they were allowed to keep on seeding. I am keeping on top of them though, so hopefully next year will be easier. One or two neighbours have already commented that the garden is looking much nicer..
I shall be planting roses and more shrubs in the autumn. I bought a load of baby shrubs and am currently nurturing them in pots so I can grow them on. A lot cheaper that way. I shall also be keeping an eye out for shrubs etc at the likes of Aldi and Wilkinson's. Hopefully next year I should start reaping a reward for all my efforts. I am saving my pennies for a summerhouse ..........0 -

Good morning everyone......another lovely morning.
Car has to go for a repair today:eek: hey ho has to be done. So will have an at home day today. More sorting, decluttering and skip loading. It's lovely to be getting rid of all the extra stuff I no longer need or want. It feels so liberating!!!
I still have a lot of "undecideds" but it's mainly smaller stuff that I can sort through at my leisure. It's in boxes in the loft so not in the way. That can be a winter job. Some to sell and some to donate. I did tackle some paperwork yesterday. I need to have a chiminea session, there's loads to burn. I love that, a really nice champagne moment, sitting out watching the flames with a nice G&T and star gazing. Maybe this evening if it's not windy.
Didn't go out last evening in the end, I was too tired and tbh I felt a bit low (anniversary of husband's death this Saturday). I couldn't really face company so just had a quiet evening. Feel much better after a good sleep.
Diet going well. I reckon just another 10lbs or so and I'm there.
Yesterday I was very good. Despite going in 3 chazzers I didn't buy any clothes. I have decided I have more than enough summer clothes for now so I will start looking for winter things only. It's perhaps a bit early yet though, there wasn't much winter clothing on display and I didn't really spot anything, so I saved my money..

Morning!
Candygirl...holding my thumbs for you today! Hope you get things sorted.
Leasonelearned...10 pounds to go until target! Well done you!...I'm thinking another stone , maybe a stone and a half....but Iam taking each week as it comes!....I still have the problem that when I look in the mirror I see a fat-lass looking back at me!...I KNOW the clothes are WAY smaller, but I don't' see' it ...does that make sense?
On the topic of weight loss and clothes....the pile for the Charity shop is growing!...I have decided that I will NOT keep larger clothes on my clothes rail - even though I don't say it out loud, keeping them is my worry that I might one-day need them again!...Away they go!!!!
This is my birthday-month and I have had a few birthday-email-offers from various companies...I might use the Hotel Chocolat one! (a money off voucher to be used this month)...I'm hoping my favourite coffee firm will send me a special offer too!...and last year M&S gave me a 20% of all clothing voucher for my birthday (I have a Sparks card) which could be used on top of sales offers! Must look out for that one!
Quiet day planned for today...I have the new Lakeland catalogue and will meet Mum for coffee and 'virtual shopping' this morning...then off to the craft shop....and embroidery this afternoon.0 -
Yes I have this problem too....I think it takes a while for your real size to register in your brain. I couldn't believe it when I discovered I can get into some size 12s. In my mind I'm still a fat frump. :rotfl:
I'm looking forward to having another wardrobe cull .....I shall get rid of anything that's too big, doesn't flatter or has seen better days. I'll just keep a couple of bits for decorating and diy.
I have been quietly ditching the Frump for a while now.....she will soon be gone forever. Lol
Just dropped the car off......fingers crossed. :rotfl:
Going to phone the hairdresser and book a cut, then potter in the shed and garden.0 -
Keeping everything crossed for you, Candygirl
Also for your car, LL - we've had a pretty bad time, car-wise over the past eleven months. Hopefully we have now turned a corner in that department!
Champagne moments yesterday were more of the Homesense kind, I'm afraid - bagging a whopping £265.50 worth of goodies for £63All *useful* and *beautiful* so William Morris would be happy, lol!
Today I'm finishing painting some external joinery - before the weather turns wet and stormy again tomorrow. Then hopefully a few champagne moments in the garden this afternoon! Yes, LL - it is a lovely space, or at least parts of it are. The estate agent described it as a 'magical' garden when we were buying but sadly that was more on account of the woodland areas and huge, ancient apple tree than the flowers. It's becoming more magical - imho, anyway- with everything we do, although I don't think we'll ever fully eradicate the ground elder/some of the more determined weeds.
We have a tree surgeon booked for early September to chop a vast fallen beech tree that has been cutting off the far end of our land for what I imagine to be many years. That'll make a massive difference - and hopefully provide us with tons of firewood for the wood burners tooMortgage-free for fourteen years!
Over £40,000 mis-sold PPI reclaimed0 -
Delighted to say car came in well under budget. I was quoted around £350. Final cost was £235. Wahoo.
Shattered now. A busy day of shed cleaning, garden clearing and skip loading. A good day, I really feel that I have achieved a lot today.
Very satisfying.0
