You get a free repair so isnt going to cost you anything, you are loosing money as its got a leak, so it is costing you money anyway.
  • the whole point of this thread is that it is going to cost me to put the concrete all down the side of the house back and probably next door too as its connected. I cannot afford 300 pounds or so to do this- more if it is near the foundations.

So you are going to leave it for the new buyers, like i say very nice of you, are you going to point it out to them or just keep quiet ?

Leaving out the moral issue(and I hope most of us would agree with deanos) you can get into trouble for not declaring something like that on selling a house.

You presumably are confident that your 'feminine charms' will have prevented the results of the water company's visit being logged on their datbase.

Each job is logged on the SAP database , it will go on the prop ref's history and if a new customer queries it it will flag it up if the call centre op looks at it, and it will show all previous jobs and queries for that property
  • ok...I feel terrible now. I suppose I was panicking about trying to find the money for the leak and didn't think about it morally. But why did the guy from the water company tell me he could walk away then ? and feminine charm- if you mean telling him nicely I didn't think I could afford it meant that. I don't know what to do now.

Being nice to people gets you everywhere x

You dont have to have it done its up to you as the CSR told you , but the job will be logged against your property which can be brought up anytime in the future , not sure what the legal position is if you sell your property knowing there is a leak, but personally i would get it done, all the water is going somewhere and it could damage your property if its in close proximerty.
