The percentage of the population who are of the attitude that they don’t care about anyone else or about rules or just about general human decency is on the rise. This is because this attitude is instilled in their offspring who then grow up to accept this is normality and then go out and breed themselves.

It’s not just happening in London, it’s happening in pretty much every city and town in the UK and it will continue to spread all the time that people have no pride in themselves or consideration for others.

Has crime dropped? My suspicion is it just gets reclassified to suit the statistics they want to reflect at the time.

I’ve got a pretty dim view of the UK population currently. The only reason I don’t emigrate is because all my family is here.

    Overall crime has dropped.

The statistics are skewed; but that is because the police are now logging disputes on social media, 'hate crimes' and hurt feelings as crimes.

    violent crime has dropped.
    Theft is on the rise.
    Drugs related offences are higher.

The other consideration is that most offences are committed by a very small group of people. If a spike occurs, it doesn't take the police long to look at who's recently been released from prison.

I'd suggest that actually people are very supportive; human nature is to form social groups.

I do think the country is going downhill. In my opinion its partly because society / authority is way too soft on those who do wrong or don't contribute. If you carry a knife chances are you will just be told to not do it again. If you can't be bothered to work it's possible to live off benefits for years. Many parents don't instill basic manners or consideration in their kids. Schools tolerate kids with bad attitudes as they don't have the power to do much else.
I also think people are quicker to get angry. Accidentally bump into someone and the response won't be ' no worries old chap' it will be ' what's your problem?!!! You wanna go outside?!!'. Accidentally find yourself in the wrong lane whilst driving? Most likely you will be beeped at or ignored instead of let in.
One theory I have is that because most of us have been fortunate in the UK to have lived all our lives in peacetime we don't have an unpleasant common cause to unite us. Instead we face off against each other. Show off about our cars, clothes and holidays and get violent because we don't want to be told what to do or be ' disrespected '.
There is also a sense of entitlement. Some people refuse to work for minimum wage even though they have no experience. Some people know all the tricks to get as many benefits as they can rather than earn money.
I could go on and on!!

Yes I agree with this, nobody on benefits should ever get more than someone on minimum wage and they should have to do community work in order to get it.
Child benefit should only be allowed to be spent on children not iphones, beer and fags.....
It should never be a 'lifestyle choice' like it is a the moment, there is no work ethic with people on benefits as most of them have never worked.
How can people who have never contributed be allowed to get so much out when people who genuinely fall on hard times just seem to be ignored?
    I could also go on......

There’s a massive difference between miserable relationships and the difficulties of most relationships.

The system as it is, in essence negates the need for compromise.

Now obviously my experiences skew my thinking; it’s how humans grow. However there is a fundamental issue, to my mind, of the state replacing traditional father roles. At the same time there is no automatic right to contact.

Marriage was designed when kids moved out at 18 and people died at 65, and women mainly did the compromising because they had no money. The recent "back in time to the factory" series was fascinating.

I don't think marriage is fit for purpose any more!

I thought people got married because they loved each other and wanted to spend their lives together.
Nobody has to get married now if they don't want to but it does annoy me if something happens and they demand to have the privileges it brings, widows pension, spouse pension, etc.
If you are happy not to have those things, live together, but if you want them, get married.....

My step-brother would require 2 carers to go with him?
Whilst I agree in theory is that really practical?
There is NO possibility of improvement or issue with work ethic (he was starved of oxygen at birth causing permanent brain damge).

Your step-brother is not the sort of person we are talking about here, and I think you know that.

Some do. Some belive the dream of this that romcoms sell them and then reality is a shock.

Should they be tied forever because they made a mistake?

No, they can get a divorce, if they can't do that because of their faith, then they probably shouldn't be living together either......
