Congratulations on the loan - keep going. It will get better. You have given yourselves a bit of breathing space and now it sounds as if you need to give your head a 'holiday' from thinking about it. It is very wearing and can be quite debilitating. These are the things that work for me:
    • A walk in the woods with OH and dog.
    • An hour in an art gallery.
    • OH driving, me wrapped up warm and out for an hour in our elderly soft top.
These things do not solve the problem, they just restore perspective and are my self help to support my mental wellbeing even in the worst of times.
The woods are adjacent to our house so dog walking in there is an everyday activity, but going together, holding hands and chatting or quiet is something special.

Is there something simple and special you can do?

    Best wishes
    Keep posting

Triker, well done on the action you've taken. 7.4% isn't bad at all as an interest rate for a new loan these days, and the £5k - I wouldn't like to do it either - but sometimes, its the only option. Hope you're thinking of all the property programmes you've ever seen about selling your house.... the builder that did my porch recently understood where I was coming from when I kept on mentioning them....

    Good luck.

Hi, thanks for the ongoing support and understanding, funny really I don't even feel relief re the loan, I suppose because I know it needs sorting asap as humanly possible aka paying off.

So in a way this is a change because one days time I may have thought we'd won the lottery but its not spending money its coping money.

Still feel wierd, OH said I should be off work really, still got really bad stomach ache, had painkillers, not really touching it. Looking in the mirror (argh) I faced with an unsmiling, glassy eyed person, oh that'd be me then.

When we sell the house we will be able to settle all debts and yes all cards will be cut up.

Sooo it's friday and I'm now going to get over to the health board to try and find out about MS. My dad has it and has taken a severe turn for the worse, found out yesterday he'd been taken to hospital after collapsing and I need advice re everything really.

    Ho hum

    Hi Triker
Well done for sorting the loan and biting the bullet with reducing the house price. If I were you I would put the pressure on the EA a bit. Badger them to heavily readvertise etc at the new price and see if you can get them to hold an 'open house' viewing for a couple of hours at the weekend. Tell them that you were unhappy with their service before and infer that they are on a 'last chance'. After all, they don't have to know you would find it very inconvenient to change agents................

Cheeky bleeders  , the paperwork arrived for the 10.9 apr loan from first direct which we are not getting obviously.........I did a quick check after reading about advice re loans from here and Martin's article's and they have put it as a secured loan against the house.

    Gits.

When OH gets back he'll be playing hell with them as I was there on the phone application when he said that he wanted an unsecured loan.

Luckily we've double checked the application we're going with at 7.4% apr with OH's bank and it's very definately unsecured.

Just angry that these twots with an 'a' try to take advantage of people who are applying for loans.

I may complain but now sure who to.

Ref the house sale, have a loon lynzpowers thread ref her debt free journey and selling her flat. The thing that got it moving (if memory serves), was advertising it on one of the do it yourself selling websites. I am afraid the name escapes me now. But the price for putting up and ad wasn't very much about £70, and that way you don't have to pay EA fees either.

They'll be FSA regulated, but you'll probably have to jump through the hoops of complaining to them first.
