    Day 17/21

I’ll withdraw my last £50 this morning - that’s £10 per day until midnight Wednesday. Need £10 petrol this morning but can’t see me needing anything else.

Late breakfast - last of the ys sausages with onion, cheese and baked beans in ys wraps
Dinner - chicken dippers from the freezer and supermarket pizza

After petrol I’ll have £43 left until Wednesday midnight

  • Well done your almost there. And good luck for next month. I originally started my DMP about three years ago I think with stepchange. All went well but I did the classic mistake of having a budget that was far too tight. It would have been fifteen years but an issue with tax credits and general bad budgeting meant the debt increased and nursery fees used up all of hubby's Barclaycard and more. Whoops. At the end of last year we put hubby's named debts on and the DMP was 18.5 years. we are home owners with equity and have young kids pay too much in childcare etc. Its the best option for us at present to be in a DMP. I went self managed in spring time as it was easier for me. I think it will now be 15 years if I continue as I am as I've paid a couple via full and final offers and taken affair chunk of it this year but I'm hoping for it to be gone in 5-8 years if I can.

  • Wow neverending - so you’re a long termer like me then. How do full and finals work on your credit rating? I may be in the position to offer my smallest one soon in the new year

  • I've just had soup for dinner. I've now got dinner envy. Ha ha

Don't think full and final settlement offers are the prettiest on your credit file but once the default drops off I think all record of the debt and how it was settled dissapears as well. It was a huge boost for me to get rid of a chunk though and like you say I'm a long termer so my credit rating is the top concern at the moment.

Keep going. You look like you will have money left in your purse at the end which is fantastic news. X

  • Hi charhen,

I'm rather late to the party, since you've only got two days left to go, but it's such a fab idea! I might have to steal it and give it a go myself :rotfl: I particularly like the method of giving yourself a daily amount, but also recalculating that amount if you do a big shop.

I'm also in the process of eating down our cupboards and freezer. I feel like I've been trying to do this for months now, and that everytime I make some space in the freezer my husband comes home with YS items from Tesco! But this past week we've actually managed to get to the point where I can now see the bottom of MORE THAN ONE of my freezer drawers!! The back of my cupboard isn't yet in sight but I have faith that it will appear soon!

The issue we have is that my husband likes to keep stocked up on what he calls "emergency rations" such as packet pastas and frozen pizzas, and as soon as I use them up he goes and buys more....!!

  • Thanks neverending - you sound like you're on the case with it all though. I've been on my dmp for over 8 years now and I've recently been keeping an eye on my credit rating. It's 999 at the moment and I'm just wondering if I offer a f&f instead of the full amount, will it go down as a default and take me back to sqaure one rating wise? :o

Thanks pinknsparkly - I'm a sucker for ys items :rotfl:although I'm now restrained enough to only buy them if I know we'll use them that day or if they freeze. They're always good to have as a standby but can end up taking over the freezer :D

I spent £1 last night on some extra veg for our stir fry and £10 on petrol (please god let this be the last for this challenge!) I put £4.60 towards my penny-a-day challenge leaving me with £20.00 to last until midnight Wednesday.

  • Day 20/21 - nearly there!

I'm starting the day with £20.00 and do need some cheese and a tomato from the shops at lunchtime. Other spends: I still need to find bit of change towards my penny-a-day challenge but that's more a matter of having the right change so should be fine to keep on track.

    Breakfast - croissant (ys)
Lunch - leftover s/c chille con carne & rice
    Dinner - burgers (ys)

I did get paid today but apart from dd's due out I won't be touching it (I purposely made this challenge go past payday).
