There's what some would call a lot of clutter on display - is there a storage facility nearby where you can rent space and put all your bookcases, books and other stuff such as the telescope out of sight in order to make the rooms more spacious?

The tv on the wall near the ceiling would put me off.

Noted on some of the clutter such as the telescope but are books on bookshelves classed as clutter? Genuine question. I built the shelves for that alcove so are you thinking that it would be better to have the shelves empty/just have things for display?

We do have a loft where we can clear some other bits to so it's not a problem to clear it out where necessary.

Re: the t.v - where the previous owner had their t.v wasn't ideal for me but it that really something that would put you off considering it is quite a moveable object?

The tv would put me off because it says "if I have to crane my neck to look up and watch the tv up there then that room is narrow".

Books - a lot of them in one place says to me a lot of dust - would remove at least some of them and space out stuff for display on the shelves, maybe leave the bottom shelf with books.

    That's me, anyway.

Ah, fair enough. I quite like my T.V up a bit higher so it was a conscious choice to put it there ;)

    Thanks for your input
  • OP, where do you park your car?
  • Cheeky_Monkey, there are parking spaces on lanes either side of the row where the residents park.

Is that just the angle of the photos or the presentation of the rooms in general? We do have different furniture so can't replicate exactly

To me its more the angle, i can look through the clutter to an extent but certainly you could declutter, if you are moving you'll have to pack stuff away anyway so why not start with things you wont be using much over the next few weeks, books for example?

Same here. The previous photos are taken at angles that do not draw attention to the narrowness of the rooms. The floorplan shows that they are not as narrow as they appear to my eyes - but I might not have bothered to look that far.

Things like the cot in the nursery can be shifted just for the photos, they can be moved back afterwards if you need to.
    It's not difficult!

Wow, it doesn't look like the same house as the previous listing. Are you using the same agent to sell that you bought through? Their photos are much better than yours.

  • I think your house looks lovely, proper little cottage :)

Here's my (very inexperienced) opinion. When I was looking at houses the things that were on my list were things like 'how close can I get my car to unload the shopping when it's persisting it down' and 'can I get the bed in the middle of the wall cos I like a pair of bedside tables'. I don't like to see beds pushed up into the corner - it makes me think there isn't enough room for it to be central.

I like photos to be representative. If you've a long thin kitchen then I want to see it on the photos. I viewed a few houses where the pictures were beautiful, but in the flesh they were just too different. E.g. to me your pic no6 is preferable to the previous pics no9. And I love your kitchen cabinets.

As well as parking, another thing that isn't mentioned is shared access (to which I have an aversion). I understand they're usual with certain types/ages of properties, but I like it clarified in the description.

I do like to see a bookcase full of good books though (I'm a bibliophile) and dust doesn't enter into it! Also things like the tv position wouldn't swing me either way.
Shout out to people who don't know what the opposite of in is.

I agree with much of what YoungBlueEyes said....and I found where your village is by zooming out on the map ;)

It’s a lovely little place but definitely lose the pic of the vegetable patch, that just looks like waste ground at the moment.

The front of the house should be shown more clearly, that’s a dreadful photo taken from a silly angle, what was EA thinking?

Personally, I love the telescope! I bet you get lovely dark skies there. If you’re doing any evening viewings, set it up and offer the viewers a look at whatever is in the sky at the time. It’s all about selling a “lifestyle” and a telescope (and a library!) would definitely appeal to me :D
