Scottish Power bills increasing
Why have SP increased my DD - despite being in (increasing) credit with them
They do not inform me of any reasons - the only way that I find out is by looking at SP messanging on-line (no email or letter is received)
I am currently almost £150 in credit and they have just increased my DD to £48 from £35
I am due to receive £145 WHD in a few months as well
I emailed them but am being ignored
Is the SP rep still around on MSE ?

They do this as your bill is divided x12 if you pay by dd. If you give an update reading you can go into your account to manage my dd and you will be able to lower it. Be prepared they will only lower it to a certain amount so play around with it. They do not take into account your WHD as they wont know if you will still be with them when it is payed. You are expected to run your online account and keep up to date yourself. I am only informed by email when i have lowered my dd myself.0

I did give a meter reading last week - but SP have still put my DD up....the WHD will only be paid by them if I am still a customer !0

Personally I m happy to be nearer £300 in credit coming into the cold months when all the gas kwhs get burned. To come out in April with a zero balance is the aim.
So the £150 overpayment is unnecessary
Until this year- I was paying just £25 per month- which increased dramatically twice already this year !!0 -
The ask for a repayment and liquidate the money inn the Dog and Duck!0

I am still having problems in contacting Scottish Power
I emailed them on 23rd Oct - and again on 27th - with no response
Where is the MSE Rep ?0 -
They are probably doing it because they have not accounted for the WHD discount - once you get WHD then ask for it to be returned to your bank account, but ask around a month after the WHD is credited.0

Emailed? Really? Use the online chat if you actually want a reply.
OK Had an online chat and found that my DD had been set even higher AGAIN ! (without my knowledge)
The (indian !) person that I was chatting to - failed to understand what I was after and offered to INCREASE my DD further still - eventually, we settled on leaving it as it was previous to the most recent increase !
I am currently over £160 in credit (increasing monthly) with £140 WHD coming shortly and my annual bill is (was) only about £350 - so you can see why I am complaining !!0 -

To be honest I think DD is probably not the way to go for you.
As a very low user (I use that in under 3 months (gas/elec)). The "computer" will push you towards a higher payment.
Do you submit reads every month? That would possibly counter that.
Have you been with the supplier for years? Again that would also likely counter that (combined with the above).
Or just go on quarterly billing and open yourself a saving account to build up over summer. (your current credit seems enough for the moment given your usage).
Also be aware that prices have incresed about 20% in the last year. So your estimate will be off (when does your deal end?).0
