Once when I was filling my Nissan Almera I am sure the pump registered that more fuel went in than the actual size of the tank. The fully laden Almera should have a tank size of no more than 60 litres, but this garage charged me for 63 litres, and she wasn't fully empty when we went in.
I still think about it now.0 -

I think you should go back now and complain!0 -
The O/P is maybe this person..
Nottinghamshire police received a 999 call from a driver who was angered by the fact that the cashier wouldn't round the sale down to £10.00, because he didn't want to deal with £9.97 in change.

Even better, the person concerned, has got the hump that the police have published the phone call on their facebook, and has been looking for legal advice on how to take action against the police for breach of privacy.0 -

She'd gone past a 5er and so thought she'd put 6 and overshot again and ended up with £7 of diesel in our Citroen C4 VTR+. She got in and realised when she'd driven a half mile that the fuel reader was still showing only the 62 miles to empty it was on when she'd dropped me off.
She then returned to the filling station to complain where she was 'fobbed off' saying the likes of "it's not enough (£7) to register"!
She then went to a filler station a little further down the Denbigh road and put the remaining £3 (from her original 10er) in and, also, that too did not register with the fuel reader.
She then returned to do some shopping in the town before picking me up and explaining an hour later. I then also returned to the BP and had it out with the staff who would not refund our money, would not phone their manager, would not phone the Police that I requested as I felt they were 'thieving' from us.
My question to you is :-
Is there any way you can enquire whether the first 'X' amount of fuel does not get delivered into the tank or does not register? Bear in mind that my wife had allegedly put in £10's worth of fuel (which has got to be more than a gallon in anyone's money) and it still stayed at 62 miles dropping to 59, 53 and 47 during our 20 miles journey to Sainsbury's in Wrexham!
Many thanks,
Taff

The 60L capacity stated may be the usable fuel and there could be a litre or two in the tank below the pump (which is classed as unusable fuel) and another litre or two in the filler pipe which might not be counted as far as the tank capacity is concerned.0 -
