Feeling ripped off !!!

Once when I was filling my Nissan Almera I am sure the pump registered that more fuel went in than the actual size of the tank. The fully laden Almera should have a tank size of no more than 60 litres, but this garage charged me for 63 litres, and she wasn't fully empty when we went in.
I still think about it now.

My car has a 50L tank, even with 0 miles range on the estimate I've never got more than 45L into it - I filled up on Saturday with range about 6 miles (was rushing to an appointment so didn't have time to fill up before morning jobs) and I got 43.1L in (based on receipt) when the auto thing cut out so I didn't push any more in
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Which suggests on your particular car they've designed it to leave approx 5 litres in the tank when the range = 0 OR (more likely) your sender unit is slightly out and it thinks theres slightly less fuel in there than there is.
Most likely the latter.0 -

French electrics dodgy? Surely not;).0 -
Strangely quite alot of racism in this thread. Just an observation. not being ripped off is key. Filling up £5 is inefficient, as is going back to the station to complain.0

And my comment was about the electrics, not the race.0
