SandyShores said:Well done twinklie. Its at this point the thought of an interview makes me think about withdrawing. You've got a great chance and don't forget its for you to find out whether you like them as well.
This post has potential line managing responsibility which is probably my weakest area in terms of experience so guess I should read up on interview questions for that element.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

A friend of mine did the same, we persuaded her to go for the interview. Then when they offered it to her she was still hesitant even though they seemed a lovely team. We persuaded her to go for it, and she is really happy in the job. There's something about change that is really scary. Mind you when I took on a job that was definitely above my capabilities a while back I wished I'd not accepted it. It was only after accepting that I found out about the 'difficult' staff I was going to manage - the whole place was a mess in terms of leadership, and although I had the skills I wasn't experienced enough to lead the changes needed. I'm line managing again now, but in a public sector organisation where the training and support are great, so I'm building my confidence again and learning that not everyone you get to line manage is toxic like my last experience. My advice would be to ask some difficult questions about the team, how it works, whether there are any difficulties you would need to address, and how they will support you (all questions I should have asked previously). Saying that, I am glad that I had that experience, because I'm now on a much higher salary than I was when managing the toxic staff, so it made me move on and move up."Think of many things, do one"

Excellent questions - thank you.
I have line managed before but only in teaching and as I left that over 5 years ago, it's been a while.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Well what a week it's been. Half term all went a bit wrong. On Sunday DS1 started with a terrible fever and vomiting. So COVID test first thing Monday. That came back negative, but he was still really poorly on Tuesday. Wednesday we found a few spots that wouldn't go. Spoke to GP who advised A&E.
Went to A&E (DH took him as I was getting my COVID booster due to dodgy lungs). He ended up being kept overnight for observation etc and then was sent home rather than being admitted with a cannula in his arm due to how distressed he was in hospital. So we now have the district nurse coming to administer IV antibiotics.
They think he had early onset meningitis but that we've caught it super early. Just waiting for his bloodwork to come back to confirm. If it's back before the nurses come tomorrow he can have the cannula out at home. If not he has to go into hospital on Saturday instead, where hopefully they'll take it out there.
To say it's been stressful would be an understatement. Add to that the poor dog now has a terribly painful ear infection which she is being treated for and we are almost at a full house!
To add insult to injury I have my interview tomorrow morning at 10.15 and the nurses are coming between 8.30 and 10.30 am. So potentially whilst I'm in my interview. NIGHTMARE.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Good luck twinklie. You're at home, so I'm sure they will understand (and if they don't then that's their issue)"Think of many things, do one"

Oh no what a stressful week. I hope the antibiotics do the trick for your DS and dog and that they are both back to themselves soon.
Good luck for the interview. Will have my fingers crossed for you.Mortgage-free wannabe 2025 £571/30003 -
Well I appear to have gone AWOL for a bit there. Quick update is we are all well and healthy.
I've fallen off the OP wagon a little bit as the boiler's been naughty and I've had to spend OP money sorting that out. However, all appears to be well now - fingers crossed.
Kids and I have finished school/work until 05/01/22, so woo hoo. Just chilling today and having a bit of a slow day. I expect I'll catch up with everything in the next day or two, but there's no rush.
Car keys have stopped working, so need to sort those out. But that's an expense for the new year I guess. We can still get in manually, but it just means the alarm goes off which is very annoying. It still locks using the key though.
No real plans over the holidays because I feel it's all to uncertain to warrant the stress of it all tbh. So we will just keep to ourselves and do what we do.
I did do a cheeky OP this morning though, I couldn't resist.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25

Hope your DS is okay after the meningitis scareSo he will need another one next year to offer him protection. The boys school have been pinging me the last two weeks for them being close contacts. It’s been driving me potty because DS1 can’t cope with the tests. So it’s really hard to know what to do for the best.Took the dog on a big walk this morning and broke her. She slept virtually all day which is unheard of. But we popped to the vets to get her flea and worming stuff too, so that’s another thing off the list.Decided for no apparent reason to bottom the fridge and kitchen cupboards as well. So that’s all clean and tidy and we are looking very well stocked for Christmas.Think a lazier day is in order tomorrow though. Im so tired right now it’s ridiculous.Hope those of you who have already started your time off are having a lovely time.Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25
