I've had Vax, Henry, Gtech and Dyson cleaners and none of them come close to my Shark.

Their customer service is flippin brilliant as well. I've had mine for 2 and a half years now and there was a loose connection which meant that the brush roller was intermittent. They sent me a new part, next day delivery, with a one hour time slot for the cost of the P&P only.

They really are quality. I'll never buy another vacuum brand. In the true spirit of MSE though, try and bite when there's a special offer on at Currys or something. Our model retails at £299, but we got it for £199. They have offers on quite often so keep an eye out.

Shark are great. Broke within two and a half years.

How about Miele are great hadn't broken down in 15+ years?

Only really owned Dyson and Miele in recent years, never really liked the Dyson too much, pretty weak suction after a while no matter how well I looked after the filters, Miele has been excellent on the other hand.

Miele are all plug in though, I like the hand held dyson

  • My Nilfisk King 510 is still going strong after 17 years, although I did replace its retractable cord around 5 years ago. Decent HEPA filters are no longer available for it though, so it had to be demoted to outdoor, car cleaning etc usage.

We've now got a Bosch BG type bagless which cleans much better, although it has a very short run time (maybe 20 mins or so) between filter washes with a shower of cold water.

My AEG 300 ELCP (Re-branded Nilfisk Attix 30) cleaner/dust extractor is an awesome beast that works very well but not really practical around the house!
