I wouldn't ever buy another Dyson either.

I have a Sebo automatic. It uses bags but I've had it for over a year and just put my second bag in. Lots of vacuuming, big family. I love that it automatically adjusts from carpet to hard flooring. It also lets you know when your bag is full and it allows a 100% full bag. It has great filtration if you have pets as well. The only downside is it's heavy if you need to take up and down stairs.
  • Thank you everyone for taking the time to reply, and sorry again for putting this on the wrong board!
My vacumn cleaner has started working again, it was caused by a blockage in the pipes, which I managed to clear, but would like to get a more powerful one in the future, so thanks for your ideas.

Surely they have a warranty? All Hoovers have at least a year.. no idea about Titan.

My first Miele lasted me 15 years or so and is still rumbling on in the hands of my elder son. Now have an updated Miele which has been faultless for a couple of years.

I also have a Bosch cordless. I'm not too impressed with it. Seems to lack the power of the mains powered Miele.
  • My ancient Dyson is falling apart from sheer old age and use but it still sucks like a demon. My brand new Vax 3 in 1 is ok but no comparison.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back

Hoover enthusiast here! I have four pets (previously five!) and young children.

Gtech are not very powerful in my experience (I've had three and found they cannot cope with dee pile, nor do they vaccuum into corners well).

Henry is the go-to but tricky if you struggle with the weight, especially on stairs.

Miele we found disappointing as it failed to create a proper seal and lost suction when turned on. Miele were not interested, which surprised me. I used it for a while by pressing the front down with my foot, but expected a lot better from the brand.

We currently have a Shark which is without doubt the best we've ever had. I couldn't believe how much muck came out on the first go.

Another vote for Sebo. Ours is so old I can't remember when we bought it but think it was three house moves ago so about 15 years. Big, heavy but very tolerant if you forget to change the filters when you should :o; it just keeps on going, bless it.
  • I've had Vax, Henry, Gtech and Dyson cleaners and none of them come close to my Shark.

Their customer service is flippin brilliant as well. I've had mine for 2 and a half years now and there was a loose connection which meant that the brush roller was intermittent. They sent me a new part, next day delivery, with a one hour time slot for the cost of the P&P only.

They really are quality. I'll never buy another vacuum brand. In the true spirit of MSE though, try and bite when there's a special offer on at Currys or something. Our model retails at £299, but we got it for £199. They have offers on quite often so keep an eye out.

I love my shark; lightweight and cordless, converts to a handheld for the car.

You don't seem like much of a Hoover enthusiast to me considering you have owned three Gtechs, a Miele and then go on to say Shark is the best you have ever owned!. :rotfl:
