Can I be sacked?

Jokes were made about my head scarf and my faith. My employer allows us to go for breaks to pray (I make up the time ofcourse) but certain people had issues with this.
I was left out of events after work, I was kept out of the social circle completely.
Missed out during tea rounds, despite me offering to get everyone a drink
So you brought up ‘snappiness’ and ‘lack of training’ in your first few posts, and now you decide to bring up attacks on your religion and people being unhappy with you practising your faith.
That’s like someone crashing into your car and you complaining about them spilling your coffee on the dashboard when the police arrive...0 -

That's why I made the comment.0 -
OP, had you explained that some of the comments were of a religious nature towards your prayer needs, I, and I suspect several others would have reacted differently.
You do seem to have presented yourself in a rather confrontational manner on here, could this be you are perceived in the workplace?
It might be worth thinking about.0 -
Having just read this thread it makes me despair at how much hostility has been shown to the OP. You may all think you were being helpful, and your advice may have been how it is in some parts of industry but clearly not in this situation and therefore your view point of the world was not relevant to OP. Yet you continued to hector her - what are you? the advance guard of the IoD or CBI on line trolling team
To me - it reads like the company are afraid to sack the OP because they know the bigotry and bullying that is part of their culture. If they were clean they would have done so already - the fact they haven't when it is so obviously the right thing (in your world) to do sends a clear implication their hands are tied
If you can bear it you should stay put Janey and don't give them the satisfaction of resigning 16 years redundancy pay even at statutory (minimum rate) is a fair amount.
If you don't think Page 1 is hostile try reading it again - it was like Piranhas or a mugging - honestlyI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

I would have got all defensive by about post #6 - I don't think its OP's personal skills that are in question hereI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

I am struggling to see any correlation between the first post and the alleged discrimination on the grounds of faith. We had someone who was snappy and didn't have time to train them. We had lack of training. We had wanting a new job and not being given one. We had I've been off sick for months. And the question "can they sack me?" (The answer is still yes).
Now we are suddenly being discriminated against on the basis of religion. Something we appear to have never raised with management, never submitted a grievance, and ....
I see this ending in tears, and not for the employer. I can almost hear what the union was told. I doubt they'll find there's any evidence to support it.
My advice remains the same, except for the addition of .... If you are going to start throwing race discrimination allegations around, be very sure that you have solid evidence, and don't even think that you will be working there in the future. If you have evidence your only strategy is to start moving towards a tribunal claim. If you don't, then you are signing your death warrant.0 -

Honestly? She's made 20 posts on this issue yet it took 11 before mentioning that she is a member of a Union, though still silent as to when she first sought advice from them, and it was post 18 before she brought up (alleged/perceived) issues regarding her faith. Her initial post was about inadequate training and a brusque manager leading her to refuse to return to work until her demands are met. Drip-feeding crucial information never leads to accurate, focussed advice from the outset. No wonder some doubt the OPs veracity.0 -
Janey surely you can see the in consistence in your posts. Being discriminated against your religion is a much more severe situation than not being trained after mo this in the job so why did you opt to focus on the latter rather than the former? It makes no sense whatsoever especially when you've confirmed that your manager never raised issues with your performance.
Assuming you haven't raised any grievances or you would have mentioned it here but did you at least raised it to your manager and if so what was their response?
Why did you not tackle this whilst you were off sick for months if indeed your intention was to come back?0
