Can I be sacked?

  • OH have advised that the department sort out the lack of training issues but I highly doubt they will

I don't see a point either - you won't win. You aren't bullied on a day to day basis. You aren't even in work!

An employer had no legal obligation to provide training, whether you need it or not. If there's no structure, then that's the way they operate - their business, their choice. As we keep telling people, these may not be the ways toy would ruin a business. As soon as toy own a business you may run it as you like. Until then you accept how they run their business or find a place that suits you better. That's simply the way of the world. It isn't your call. If you can't return to that job, then you need to decide whether you resign or get sacked. Because it will come to one or the other.

I was bullied when I was there for 9 months.

You were allegedly bullied. You submitted a grievance and evidence of this? No? Didn't happen. It's nine months later!

Your definition of bullying might be one thing. Whether it is they same as theirs is another. Bullying gets bandied around a lot. Apart from anything else, there is no specific law against bullying in work! So what exactly are you alleging happened months ago?

I really don't like your tone! you don't know what I went through and I don't have to justify myself to you either.

Bullying is bullying, I don't care what you say.
  • I know people here seem harsh Deleted_User, but they're not wrong. I've been where you are, and I've felt like you've felt. They really are trying to help you!

    You have options of course:
You can raise a grievance about the bullying you endured and move forward with that, perhaps asking for redeployment to another area at work for the protection of your health while investigations are ongoing.
    OR
You can go back and work with your HR and OH department to have mediated meetings with your managers etc. to try and sort out the issues you've faced. Nine months is a LONG time to wait to be trained, were you pro-active at all? Did you try and take ownership of the job itself and figure it out? What did you do for nine months? I left a job of six months because I was not trained or supported despite begging and becoming extremely stressed - I just sat in it while I applied for other jobs until I got another one, and then I left. It's very scary to move on after 16 years, I do understand, but I think this is your best option... but go back if you can! You need to consider your sickness being questioned by a new job - "why have you been off for nine months?" "Well, no-one trained me" isn't going to go down well! I'd say you suffered a personal tragedy and that caused the stress period, and it made you realised that you needed to move on as your job wasn't making you happy.

if I was you, I'd ask for a mediated meeting with your line manager, human resources and OH present, perhaps union rep if you have one, to discuss your phased return to work and how your training needs can be met. Go from there.

You clearly don't care what anybody on here says which makes it all pretty pointless.

You have been given good advice in this thread. The fact that it is not what you want to hear doesn't make it wrong.

Thank you for your helpful response.

I did try to train myself and figure things out by myself as best as I could. They didn't provide me with training on how to use their systems and I would stay back to figure it out.

I will take on your advice, thanks again

again, I do not care. Unless you have something useful to say, I suggest you stop posting nonsense.

You've been given all the useful answers already.

The fact that you feel bullied means nothing. Bullying is not unlawful.

The fact you're so easily upset by people simply telling you the truth, suggests your claims of bullying aren't legitimate anyway
