Eon harrasing & bullying

We are a small REGISTERED SOCIAL ENTERPRISE in the field of TRANSPORTATION helping low income 2 wheeled commuters stay on the road at low cost.
We used to be with EON for electricity but we left them just over a year ago as we had to contract our size due to our landlord putting up our rent substantially. EON has carried on bullying us with no stop phone calls, texts, letters and e mails even though we continually tell them that we are no longer with them.
We recently took over a very small workshop on the same site that we had worked from previously, left by a tenant who had disappeared from the site and set out to find ourselves a supplier of electricity [ we had stayed on the this site in much smaller accommodation but our mobile office office was connected to a generator ] When we looked into who had previously been supplying the electricity we found out it was, yes you guessed it, the dreaded EON AAAAAAGH !!!!
Now we don't know what to do as we are worried about being stuck with the previous tenants bills?? as EON won't stop HARASSING & BULLYING US.
ARE THERE ANY GROUPS CHARITY'S ETC THAT CAN HELP US?

Would a workshop be classed as a business premises and, as such, power supplies cut off when the old tenant vacated?

If so then you should have arranged a new business supply with whoever you like. This is what I think goes on with a business supply.

If, though, it's classed as a domestic supplier then the incumbent supplier becomes your supplier and it sounds like E.On are trying to charge you for the previous occupant's use.

You need to contact E.On and give them your movein date and the meter readings when you moved in - you did read the meters, yes? - then you will be free to switch, but only if it's classed as a domestic supply.

Unfortunately all the units on this site are classed as business.
We did take readings when we took over the site but we are scared to approach EON as the last tenant did not pay his bills, and knowing EON as we do, they will try and stick us with the bill.

If EON are chasing you do you owe them money .
Where you in a business contract and left part way through its term ??

Citizens Advice may help you but not sure if that applys to a business .

Hello Rich WH and welcome to the Forums.

I'm sorry you feel unable to talk to us. To help us look after the account properly, we do need to know details of the changes described. This will let us close the account for the previous tenant and open a new one for you. Charges for energy used by the previous occupiers will then go to them.

Ideally, we need to know the date responsibility changed, meter readings for that day (pictures would be great), who the landlord is and, if possible, a forwarding address for those previously responsible. Sight of documents confirming when you took over responsibility will also help stop disputes with third parties like the previous tenants or landlord. We also need the business or operational name being used.

It's best to contact our Business Moves team. There's a form on our website you can use if you don't want to talk to an advisor. There are also alternative ways to contact us listed on the same business pages of our website including via email and twitter.

Once an account has been set up, you can start a switch to another supplier.

Why are we contacting you about the old account?

Hope this helps point you in the right direction Rich WH.

We owe them nothing and when we ceased with them we had a phone call from someone from EON who said that the final bill was £ 200 so we paid that and then maybe a day or two later we had another phone call again from EON saying the final bill i think was about £350 or so and we were so heartily sick of them that we paid that as well just to get them of our backs. They could not find our payment of £200 so we just gave it up as a lost cause.

Our contract with them had ceased long before we left.

Thanks so much for everyone's help and care on this site it is very much appreciated.

Hello Rich WH and many thanks for the additional information.

I know you're reluctant but I would have a chat to our Business Support team. You've every right to see a detailed breakdown of your account including the bills we've raised and payments you've made. We need to show you how we've arrived at the final figure and what meter readings we've used. The £200 payment will be recorded and, if it's not on your account, we need to find it and transfer it to the right place.

If necessary, raise a complaint. A Complaint Manager will take ownership, investigate what's happened and give you an explanation. If this isn't sufficient, the complaint will go to a separate part of the business for a second opinion. The initial resolution will either be upheld or an alternative given. If you still feel this isn't satisfactory, we'll send you a letter detailing what we've done and advising how to approach the Energy Ombudsman for an independent review.

Something doesn't sound right here and we need to look into this for you. As I say, I know you're not keen on talking to us but we really need you to kick-start this as I suspect we currently have the account down as closed.

Contact details are on our website (including an email form if you prefer) as well as more information about how we look after complaints.

Sorry if I've misunderstood anything Rich WH. Business accounts aren't my usual area but hope this helps point you in the right direction.

I received another threatening and bullying text today telling me they are coming to turn of our electrical supply. We get these all the time from eon !!
So much for there caring helpful attitude, i wonder if they know what its like to be constantly bullied and harassed by them.
I have very very serious heart disease and this latest threat brought on an extremely bad attack , so the thought of speaking or having any more to do with them is likely to bring on another attack which could very well result in my demise. Is there anyone out there that can help us / we are desperate !!!!!

Have you spoken to the E-on Business Support Team yet, as suggested by the very helpful Malc at E-on?

Not much they can do if you refuse to speak to them .
Suggest you let your soliciter deal with the problem.
    Or try CAB .
All you are doing is digging a bigger and bigger hole .
The information you post on this forum is of no use as its more a rant than actual information . Reads as you dont actually want any help at all .
