  • Getting close. Went for GF bread and fancied baking so bought GF flour and icing sugar etc
Also nipped into Poundstretc.r and bought a few bits that were cheap. Had never been in before but they’re pretty good. Better than P£land. Spent £12.32 altogether.
Leaves me with £8 till Wednesday :o. Should definitely manage it if I’m careful as we’re out at the rugby tomorrow and out for tea on Sunday and have plenty in now I’ve mAde a big coffee and walnut cake for our treat cravings :D

    Have a lovely weekend everyone.

I have been cooking from scratch a lot, which makes a massive difference :D

  • £13.03 spent since last post.

2 cucumbers, organic spring onions, 1,275g bananas, 885g easy peelers, 445g tomatoes, 2 tins potatoes, 2 tins kidney beans, 2 tins beans, 2 tins sweetcorn, 4 passata, 2 tofu, lemonade, rose lemonade, cream of chicken soup, tin of rice pudding and 800g bread.

We've picked up a few extra tin items just to keep aside for emergencies.

    £167.47/£200.
    £32.53 left.

  • Well. £55 spent at the market this morning, and a £20 top-up at the supermarket yesterday, rounded up slightly for convenience as I can't find the receipt. That puts me £11.59 over and there'll be a bit more tomorrow, between £10 - £20, with the market butcher. That'll be me for November and I'm not dismayed by being a bit over, bearing in mind that I was essentially out of action for most of the first half of the month.

I'm allowing a little extra in December, partly because I'll be feeding extra mouths for a fair bit of it, but will try hard to stick to the enhanced budget. We've regained the ground lost in summer, with 3 elderly vehicles all needing expensive repairs, and one offspring managing to run out of money with a couple of months left to go before the next instalment of his stipend. Christmas is budgeted for, but now I want to concentrate on building up the reserves. I won't be doing much work until spring so we're a bit down on the income front; luckily there's enough coming in, but that's no reason to run riot!

  • Good morning everyone
have beef sausages and stewing steak defrosting ready to go in slow cooker overnight to make steak pies tomorrow. I like a few sausages in with the steak. I know other people would be horrified but I think it adds a little flavour to the finished pie.
Have only spent another £4.00 at village shop this week so total sitting about £111.
However I am questioning myself on why that is my total when I have spent about £67 at butcher this month.
Why do I still spend my full budget on the months I don't stock up on butcher meat.
    It is a conundrum. :(
Have lowered my target to £130 for next month as I will use up meat etc. and also I will socialize outside of home.
Now off to start working on my "to do" list which never seems to shrink because as I knock of tasks from the top I remember tasks I want to add to the bottom.
    Have a super Saturday everyone.

Hmm - I actually spent £25, this morning, because the butcher had an excellent offer on a lovely piece of topside, which is big enough to do 2 Sunday roasts for 6/7, so half of that will go into the freezer for later reference. I also got sausagemeat (festive stuffing) chicken breasts and a pack of mince; the mince & the sausagemeat are also in the freezer so should help towards keeping next month's total in check!

Not quite at the point of declaring for November yet; there'll probably be bread & bananas needed before payday. So we will have ended our month of unusual circumstances having spent 10% more than usual, which I actually think is pretty good, all things considered. (Luckily that 10% won't break the bank, for us.) I'm proud of my DDs & OH for getting stuck in & doing their best to stick to the masterplan!

ETA: have also done the year's last bulk order of flour today, so can declare that I'm a little under budget in the bulk-buy "purse" which is pleasing.

  • AIM was 600 but I think il be neare £750 when all’s calculated. This is an improvement thou as last month we spent £800 and another £100 on the bulk fund. I haven’t touched the bulk fund this moth so if I make it at £750 then I will have saved £150. Not sure about next months budget as Xmas, working on a plan x

NSD for me today. Roast chicken dinner for the HT tonight and lamb for me. I don't cook him a whole chicken - it's chicken breast fillets. I have lamb rump steak as I'm fed up of chicken every Sunday. I'm trying to vary what I have to keep the cooking mojo going. I made brown bread yesterday instead of going out to buy the loaf that forgot last week so quietly pleased about that :)
  • I’ve got a grand total of £13.60 left if to spend if I’m going to meet my target. I’ve got lunch and dinner ingredients for two days so it is just about possible if I don’t forget my lunch one day.

Quite pleased with that as I did have extra spends (vitamins and veg box) :)
  • DECLARING: £101.14/£135.

Another month under budget which is FAB, but I am so over budget in other areas that the surplus has only gone a tiny way to make up for these. Must be more focused coming into the Christmas months. Heading over to the December thread now to declare my first December spends.

Well done on another successful month everyone, you are all such an inspiration!
