  • Monday was a NSD but I've definitely made up for that today with all the shopping done for Thanksgiving dinner along with some treats.

    €30.77 at Lidl for loads of veg, 3x mozzarella, milk, paper towels, olives, butter, bacon, and peanuts.

    €56.70 at Delhaize for onions, more potatoes, butternut squash, more butter, cheese, sausages, herbs, 3x strawberries, bottle of wine, eggs, cream cheese and yoghurt. I also got 2 avocados but forgot to put them on the conveyor belt and didn't notice until I was packing my cart after paying. :o Well, that's one way to shave money off the bill!

    €105.00 at the Brit expat store for the turkey (€40), lots of cheddar, some frozen meat and veggie pies, 2x veggie haggis (€11!), and lots of little bits.

    TOTALS SO FAR
    €352.65 / €300.00

    So, we're definitely over. We had some extraordinary purchases this month like several rounds of Activia which we would normally never buy. Tomorrow there's just one more purchase for Thanksgiving dessert which is a bottle of rose water. After that, I'm likely done until Saturday.

    Here's my Thanksgiving menu, in case anyone's interested. :D I can link to the recipes if you see something you like. I made the cranberry sauce last night and will make the gravy tomorrow along with cutting and prepping all the veg, onions, garlic, etc and seasoning the turkey. The turkey is currently relaxing/defrosting in his spa of the sink. :rotfl:

    * Turkey
    * Tartiflette (mushroom, not ham based) - for veggie OH
    * Appetizer winter salad - another friend cooking
    * Cornbread
    * Roasted green beans
    * Roasted squash
    * Mushroom gravy
    * Mashed potatoes
    * Cranberry sauce
    * Dessert - shortbread with whipped cream and roasted strawberries.
  • Check in with some spends - have been in Rome for the weekend so just popped in to the shops yesterday for some essentials - £8.76 at Lidl. Eating out of the freezer as much as possible as my new house should complete before Christmas so am I trying to clear it!

    Brings me to a total of: £101.14/£135.

    So it looks like I will be under budget for the month as my new month will start on Friday. However, with trips to Rome and Paris in the same month I have gone severely over budget in other areas. Managed to avoid using the credit cards so far apart from my special travel credit card which I use for the interest rates while I am abroad. Have paid off half of that so far and hoping to clear the other half when I get paid on Friday.

    Have also started the Christmas shopping while the Black Friday deals are on. Luckily I save through the year for Christmas pressies so just need to be careful and I should be OK. My BF is almost completely done and seeing as he is the hardest to buy for normally (save for parents) I am chuffed with that. Trying so hard not to panic about money in the days running up to Christmas - taking a deep breath and pretending I don't have credit cards!

    Hope everyone is doing well now we are coming to the end of another great challenge.

    Found a receipt from the 15/11 that was for a £1 spend in work.
    Yesterday, I spent £2.46 in work; and I am sure I have had a Morrison's spend as well, which I will add once I find the receipt or for how much (if I haven't already).
    I have an impending Tesco order tonight aswell for £45.24, but will have a few things to hand back.

    So will add all totals to sig a bit later on.

  • Eeeek! Back behind the wheel again and £100 spent at the nearest L!dls this afternoon! Some of which probably "belongs" to the December or Christmas budgets, but never mind, this is when it got spent. DD2 & I did a full-on "raid" and stocked up on just about everything except chickpeas & butterbeans; I have a feeling we'll have to buy dried, as the assistant said they're discontinued now until after Christmas. Oh well, cheaper that way; we'll just have to be more organised.

    It's been crazy here with all sorts going on, a poorly moomin (more than usual) work's getting to me & I'm trying to be positive.. If I'm honest though, I'd quite like to hide till mid Feb! :cool:

  • 65¢ today at the halal store for rose water.

    I thought it was going to be my last purchase for the week but when I went to start making the shortbread I realized there wasn't enough flour. One of the bags I thought was flour was actually sugar. D'oh! So, tomorrow morning I'll have to head out to get flour and possibly olive oil since I'll likely go through that at a healthy clip while prepping the dinner.

    Only £319.71/£500 so far due to forgetting to order shopping before the weekend (so buying cheap veg at the local shop to partner lentils, pasta and sauce for meals and snacking on popped corn which was in a dented jar so was half price). It means we'll only have one more weekly shop this month instead of two.

    However, I have spent about £15 so far this month at work on coffee and lunches. A new job starting next month will put an end to that as there is no cafe.

    Maybe I should try to book our shops for every eight days instead of every seven.

  • Morrison's spend as well, which I will add once I find the receipt or for how much (if I haven't already).
    I have an impending Tesco order tonight aswell for £45.24, but will have a few things to hand back.

    Haven't found Morrisons receipt yet and Tesco shop came to £33.52 which i have added to total.I was meant to knock some things off the Tesco shop and add others on, but must have fell asleep before checkout (it's normally when i'm awake at daft oclock i start tweaking the shopping).
    Small shop at Aldi tomorrow for ground coffee and a handful of other bits. So, hopefully should be £20 or so.
