Thanks Poppy, I appreciate that. My question is do DWP look down, sending reassessments early, making a note of claimants on their systems who do take their case to TS for future?
Sorry but I don't understand your question. My assessment wasn't early, 12 months was recommended on my last review and it's been 12 months.

Which is why it's always better to start your own threads with any questions because confusion starts otherwise.

I'm sorry but i still don't understand your question. DWP don't send re-assessments early, the health assessment providers send out the ESA50 forms and this can be done at anytime, regardless of the length of time DWP recommend.
I'm curious about this part of the process. The DWPs own internal guidance states that the WCA process is started automatically through a case control trigger date on the DWPs own ESA system. Looking at the internal guidance on this seems to indicate that the trigger date is automatically set for 2 months before the next WCA date. From my own computer print out I can see this trigger point as being "(Date) Automatic WCA Referral". Once the trigger date is reached a referral is automtically made to the assessment providers and an ESA50 is automatically sent. I'd assumed the latter was sent by the DWP but I suppose it could be sent automatically by Maximus.

But regardless of who sends the ESA50 I do wonder why some people get an ESA50 early, some on time and some seem to get deferrals for a while longer. If the process is automated and the trigger date is created from the date of the next WCA (i.e WCA date minus two months) I would have expected everyone to get an ESA50 at the correct date for their case. I wouldn't have thought the assessment provider would have had any input into when the WCA process starts including the issue of the ESA50.

They can re-assess you at anytime from 3 months regardless of how long you're given when a decision is made. This is the reason why no dates are put on the ESA decision letters.

My first ESA re-assessment went 18 months over my time and my second went 1 year over, so the 2 months before is completely wrong.

If you ring the ESA 0800 number, they will be able to tell you your review date, if you'd rather know for sure.

You can be re-assessed at any time but they usually stick to that date.

You can't be reassessed within the first 3 months of your claim.

The 2 months isn't wrong if you are being assessed on your recommended date they send your form out a couple of months before,on one of my reassessments i was due to be reassessed in march and I got my form in January.
  • I had an ESA50 to complete last July. Then another about a month ago.

When you add in the time it sometimes takes them to reach a decison (my claim from last July was only sorted in Jan this year), it can feel like you're constantly in a state of limbo.

But thats how it is i guess. I doubt the DWP lose much sleep over any of this and the worry it causes :-(
  • Five years also for me, just over. I really expected an ESA50 in recent weeks but alas it looks like the DWP have forgot about me. In the beginning this felt ok, but now I feel like I've been left to rot.
