You previously said you were allergic to bread so why have you got a sandwich on your fridge?

A six pack of eggs is cheaper than meat.

A supermarket delivery would let you get cheaper prices than a corner shop.

Since all suggestions are dismissed what exactly do you want the readers here to do/suggest?

That way maybe there would be some progress forward.

There is no free money available.

Nobody here can give you a job.

All we might do is suggest ways of reducing your spending but since you won't give details of your spending then that is not possible. While you may think there is no more can be saved an outsider can sometimes see something you have missed or don't know about

Op you will need to take steps to change your lot in life, think outside the box, stand at the roadside at a busy junction with a placard - Work wanted please give me a job, trial welcome. Contact care agencies, look at entry level positions in local hospitals etc etc.

You need to take charge of the situation.

The nearest food bank is a total 4 mile walk (I cannot afford bus fare) and I have a bad back/sciatica and suffer an as-yet-undiagnosed chronic health problem, so I cannot walk that far all the time. And yes, it's hard for me to walk that far.

OP has sciatica and a bad back and can't walk and possibly some other health issues, hopefully their GP can advise and perhaps they could get some disability benefit?

my advice would be look at "boost your income" board (if you have internet at home) while looking for work. Lots of time surveys saved me :) Even qmee, easy to get few pounds extra daily for food.
  • OP I think you know what you need to do long term you're just avoiding the inevitable.

Sell the house and buy a small flat.

Well in order to help we need more information.

What size is your house? How many bedrooms? How many reception rooms? Where did you sleep when you lived there with your parents? Do you still have items of your parents that you could sell if you had to? (Obviously not sentimental things)

Allergies wise - are you actually allergic? Do these things throw you into anaphylaxis? Have you been diagnosed with coeliac disease by a doctor? If you're coeliac and have diagnosis by biopsy ask your GP about getting products on prescription, if you haven't then suck it up, you can eat gluten. If you aren't carrying epipens and worrying for your life when you eat a new food or a familiar food with "new and improved" written on it then you're not allergic.

Try phoning the food bank and asking if they have outreach for disabled people, some do and will deliver a parcel if you can't get out to them.

Have you considered applying for PIP on mental health grounds?

Have you applied to any job agencies to try get experience outside your normal field?

Have you applied for entry level jobs like Greggs, McDonalds, the sort of jobs you'd associate with younger people but who really like to recruit from all age brackets?

OP, your current mindset is making your situation worse - it is immediately jumping on any idea as bad. Do yourself a favour, list every idea presented here, go through each one line by line and think to yourself how could I make that work? Challenge yourself to find the solutions, rather than dismiss without effort.

Take any job - its the best time of year to find temp jobs. Volunteering can lead to paid work or even contacts for opportunities. you say you have no room - where did you live when your parents were there? Sell the house or make it work for you.

You aren't just going to get given free money, take some time out, sit down and work through your options, hopefully something will work for you.

    good luck.

I know the rules say be nice and all that but...

Someone has at least £100k in an asset, but wants the state to support them, on top of the £4k they get a year already. And any idea about actually doing something is met with hostility. Something has clearly gone very very wrong.

How about a job in a hotel/cafe, even just washing up - at least you'd get a meal. Try popping in when they are very busy and need an extra pair of hands.

No you can't, there is such a thing as gluten intolerance. If I eat gluten, even a very small amount I am in pain the next day and very fuzzy headed and some times unable to form words. If I eat a lot of gluten ie a piece of bread I will stuggle walking, I'll need to hold on to something and drag myself along. need help getting in and out of cars or up stairs.

At one point doctors thought I had RA and my GP fast tracked me to see a consultant because I was so bad. Early on many years ago the registrar I saw said I'd be lucky if I wasn't in a wheelchair within 12 months. More recently I saw an acupuncturist for the pain, still thinking I had arthritis and it was she who mentioned that a gluten free diet is beneficial for arthritis. Within 24 hours of not eating gluten the pain had gone.

Since I've stopped eating gluten have been the only time since my teens that I can remember not being in some sort of pain.

I agree the term allergy is being used too loosely and intolerance would be a better term to use .That doesn't mean one just has to put up with it by eating the foods which make you ill.
