On that income you should be only paying around 20% of your council tax bill, yet you say you are not eligible for it, why are you not eligible for CTR?

How many rooms does the house have, is there actually no room or would you just 'rather not have a lodger'

Have you sorted out your food 'allergies' as you had an extensive, rather unbelieveable list of food allergies last time making your food bill high and food banks useless, yet you never actually elaborated on your 'allergy to all fruits and veg' You seem to be saying you are allergic to everything but meat, and thats simply not a thing.
  • when you say no room do you mean no space or no bedroom?
If no space then I am afraid you just may need to make space
if no bedroom then it is trickier

If you live in a city you could have a monday - fri lodger so that you have the weekends to yourself. It may make it more palatable

Either way it will stop you starving

Apply for a budgeting loan or budgeting advance if you are on Universal Credit.

This should give you enough money for travelling to food banks and searching for jobs whilst you put your house on the market and either rent or find a new place to live.

I know you are feeling incredibly frustrated but people are trying to help you by suggesting various things.

There is no magic answer as you have found. There are many people in the same situation as yourself but the difference is that you have a big asset that you can sell. It may be hard but to survive you will have to do it.

Did you read the post? I can't access a food bank. - You can walk 4 miles. It might take time, but given you need food to survive, I suggest you do. What exactly do you expect, donations from forumites?

I AM claiming everything I can - Are you sure, given your incapacity I would expect there may be a PIP element to claim.

THERE. IS. NO. MONEY. TO. MANAGE. - There is £307 to manage. That, given there is no rent, is easily doable. Utilities should be £50 at most, council tax £65?, so where is the other £192?

Good lord you people. Get off your high horses. Do you think I want to be in this position? I've tried to kill myself TWICE in the last seven months due to my situation. Stop talking down to people, get lost.
No im sure you don't want to be. But what are you doing to change it.

anyone can work in a shop, and 16 months is plenty of time to find a job that's NMW.

Im not sure what you expect from here...

if i was that broke with a mortgage free house i'd either sell it, you could rent somewhere the day the sale completed i'm certain or stay in a travellodge (you'll have plenty of money), or if you are dead set on not selling then sleep on the sofa and rent out the bedroom.

For income other than using the house have you thought about knocking on doors asking for any odd jobs? go into every store in the city and give them your cv, let them know you are available immediately.

The house is an unnecessary asset you could sell. Plenty of time to find somewhere else to live even if short term.
Having a house is no good to you if you're dead from starvation.

I cannot sell the house for reasons you literally quoted in your reply, no room for a lodger.

Do you mean that the poster quoted from your own post that you cannot sell because you have nowhere to go?

The idea would be to sell and buy simultaneously as most people do.

You say that you want a minimum wage job and that you live in a city - is there really nothing at all available, even temporary Christmas season work?
  • I went on JSA when I was made redundant, I’ve just got my self sorted.

I get about the same amount as you and manage to survive, I have a health condition but if I have to walk somewhere I do to save the money.

I come from a retail/charity background and have just accepted a new role as a assistant shop manager for a charity shop which is a paid position. I will be working with lots of volunteers and trust me it will look good on your CV, most charities too including the one I’ll be working for reinburse travel costs so that’s no excuse.

Whilst working i also worked with another charity that supports my health condition, doing fundraising, campaigning, leading events etc and at my interview for my latest role they were impressed.

Trust me volunteer work is great!

In my area (north London) there is a Facebook group for the local community and people post questions for help and advice, do you have a local group, you could ask on there for suggestions and might get access to some help. Some kind people might drop some food to you to get you by.

  • I have been in a similar position to the OP...actually the OP has a roof over their head, so is luckier than I was...I ended up sofa-surfing for a time.

OP - you state you have attempted suicide twice in the last seven months? This suggests you have issues that require medical intervention - have a word with your GP....possibly they can arrange for you to talk to someone, or prescribe a mild dose of something to help you focus more realistically.

You should definitely look at voluntary work. I started as a pot-washer at a local church caf! - just a few hours one day a week, but it got me some current experience on a CV ...AND I got a hot meal provided which was a welcome bonus!

Use your time effectively...look at your local college...I was able to do free courses in IT which led to certificates/qualifications - more to put on a CV.

Don't limit yourself to full-time/permanent work....plenty of places are looking for extra help at Christmas...and try going in to local shops rather than simply writing a letter...hand your CV over in person - and look smart and eager!

(My experience is of a few years ago...but I believe the advice is still relevant....basically, don't focus on the reasons you CAN'T get a job...focus on what you CAN do to make yourself more employable)
