OK so there is a way around given to me by some helpful people on another forum.
You can cancel your return and then start again. Click on Other under the Returns. That gives the option of selecting Post Office and print label which is also emailed to you - useful as I have to go to the library, log in to the system and then my email and log out. Go home to stick it to the parcel and then back to town to post it.

It didn't offer refund on my card this time. It gave me a credit. So watch out for that and see if the selection could be changed.

But hey, at least I can send the darn thing back.

Just know in this instance something was picked up and thrown in the box. Went in with 60 curtain weights so lucky it was in one piece.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Sorry didn't see the replies. They didn't come up on refresh and only when I posted.
Yes I bumped the thread. I thought it better to all be in one place than several threads to read. But didn't mean to cause any agrivation.
No, the Qr could only be scanned not printed.
The laptop wouldn't be internet connected at the Main sorting office so no access to mail or Amazon site. Small place short on staff and opening though I did do a screen shot in case worst came to worst I could give that a go.
The headings or anywhere else on the Returns page doesn't give the information that it's scan only for phones. You really wouldn't expect to find the same PO and label print under Other when they've already given an option or PO.

I'm living in a small rural area and it's 20mile round trip to the Hermes office in a little garage.
But thanks for taking the time to post :-).

You dont need internet. you take a screengrab
Edit: for clarity and my sanity.
Its Royal Mail. Nothing to do with any Post Office if its the label printing service.
  • When I returned a parcel via the RM Parcels Delivery Office recently I took a screenshot of the QR code in the email. They tried a few times but their hand held scanner wouldn't scan the screenshot. I had to show them the actual QR code image in the email which they eventually managed to scan and print the label. Don't know how the scanner could tell the difference.

I was also advised by the staff to take a photo of the label on the parcel as it sat on the counter, before they took it away.

You're doing something wrong because you don't scan a QR code at all. You just print a label out, stick it on your package and then take it to Hermes.
There is a new option that instead of printing gives you QR code to show at the drop off point and they print the label there.

Don't worry, you did the right thing.......Searching the forum is always the first port of call for advice and keeping it all tidy for future searchers is good.
