Thanks Beamerguy. Oh, one other thing - I am no longer the RK of the vehicle in question (though I doubt that makes any difference) but more importantly I may be moving house within the next 12 months, and the way PWE have been progressing with this it might be another year before I hear anything else. If I change address do I need to notify PWE?

The so called offence was for the time you were the RK.

If moving then tell the PPC and get confirmation
  • Latest update from Equita arrived today. Looks like a pretty standard letter they send to everyone:

Equits now stooping down to the sewers.

Quoting Parking Eye / Beavis is so ridiculous, it
    is now laughable.

BEAVIS v PARKING EYE in the Supreme Court
Often, these powerless debt collectors make reference
to the Parking Eye/Supreme court case ? They seem to
think that this is the key for them to extort money from
    you.
Barry Beavis took Parking Eye to court because he claimed
the charges were unfair. The court said they were ... and
that was it. So unless you are claiming that the charge
was unfair, the Supreme court decision has no bearing
on you and it's yet more rubbish that debt crawlers use

Of course they are were authorised by the PPC.
They were only authorised to chase and harass you

Apart from that, Equita are useless, we know that,
they know that, and you know that

If the PPC wants to take it further, they will let you
know ...... then come back here
  • very nice of them , hope they stick to there words and hand it back to PWE , although if this happens there may be a shortage of eqita bog roll

    ignore the letter
  • Thanks guys. Your input very much appreciated.
  • UPDATE: Two years have passed. I didn't get my yearly Christmas card from Equita last year so, perhaps foolishly, I assumed this had been laid to rest. Then two weeks ago a letter from ZZPS stating that the PCN had been passed to them to resolve and another letter today threatening QDR Solicitors as the next step. I know that ZZPS is just another debt collector and that I should ignore them, but it raises a couple of questions I'm hoping one of you can answer for me:
    1) What is the statute of limitations for a parking fine? It's been over 4 years since the alleged parking infraction and I assume this must hit the buffers at some point.
    2) This was originally passed to Equita by PWE. Now it's with ZZPS. Is it normal for it to be bounced around different debt collectors?
Thanks in advance for any help/guidance.

    1. I have no idea but since you haven't received a parking fine it is irrelevant. Do we have such a thing as a Statute of Limitations in this country?
However, the Limitations Act prevents a case in the Small Claims Court being started after six years, although the alleged debt still (allegedly) exists.
In Scotland it is five years (although I'm not sure what Act of Scottish Parliament covers this) and the debt ceases to exist after that time.

2 Yes. If/when you get anything from QDR you will (probably) find they are also acting in their capacity of bog-roll distributers.

We don't need to know about any part of the powerless debt collector stage. Please only come back here if you get a genuine LBC or LoC.

QDR don't tend to file claims, they usually just send debt demands on their headed notepaper.  They are connected to ZZPS, so ignore these letters.

Have you sent a SAR to PWE, as shown in post #2 of the NEWBIES thread, so that you have all the photos and can see their hand, so to speak, in case they get a robo-claim solicitor like Gladstones to sue next year (which you would defend with our help, and likely win)?
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
