Hope you feel better soon - never nice to feel so ill.
2023: the year I get to buy a car
  • Oh hazelnutty, so sorry to hear you are feeling poorly!! :( hopefully a day of rest will make you feel a bit better...it's good that dd is away so that you can just concentrate on improving ;)

You're doing really well with your op's - I wouldn't be concerned about the amounts being 'small', everything that saves you interest in the long-run is worthwhile and you never know when things may financially change for the better ;) I never imagined that I would be in the position I am in now a few years ago - life has a habit of being surprising! :D The main thing is that you are improving your situation daily - even if only by a few pence - and you will get there in the end!

Hope you feel better soon....sending some virtual hugs! :grouphug:
  • ooooo hot toddies with lashing of whisky, lemon and honey. Hope you feel better soon.

  • Thanks Karma, Squirrel and CR! I am now most of the way through my 2nd honey, lemon and Southern Comfort, which OH assures me is the best medicine! We are watching Scorpion on Netflix with the kittens, who are loving all the attention. I get a little anxious when I'm ill, I think because the household working depends on me being functional - I'm the only driver for example. Also because of work and feeling constantly under pressure to get things done. I know I need to rest but if I'm still not well come Monday I'll still have to be up and doing :( Might see if I can get some help with the school run if nothing else.

Thanks for the encouragement on the OPs, Squirrel. I know I'll benefit in the long run, it's just such a long run (20+ years)! The idea of moving is still niggling away (I could be MF if we did as I luckily have a lot of capital tied into this house and there are parts of town I could move to) but am pushing it aside for now as we've moved too much already in DD's short life.

How are you feeling today Hazelnutty? I hope you're starting to feel better and that you managed a peaceful weekend. Is there much of that Southern Comfort left? ;):D

  • Thanks, Crumpets and NG! I had a really rough day yesterday. Folded the washing then had to lie down. OH found me fast asleep on the bed with the overturned washing basket! Some of OH's friends dropped by bringing all the fixings for a roast, which they then cooked and cleared up. I just came down for lunch and coffee and couldn't thank them enough (first time I'd met them and they made roast dinner :) ) I managed to sleep through the night and I've woken not great, but on the mend. Unfortunately a bit of a family disaster is blowing up atm so some stress this morning but I'm going to make myself a bucket of tea and try to get on with my day. OH is in town with a friend in need, so it's just me and the kittens.

Oof, some of that sounds very not good, Hazelnutty, sorry to hear that. OH's friends sound like a bright spot in all that. Relax while you can - my sister's ill at the moment, and it's a bad one. Take care.

  • Thanks, Karma. These things always seem to arrive at once!
Best wishes for your sister's recovery.

  • Not much to report here. Two NSDs over the weekend as I couldn't go out, then some bits n pieces shopping yesterday and today (big expense being a £20 bottle of JD Honey as replacement for the Southern Comfort I demolished in my toddies! TBH I wouldn't drink it in any other context but I get colds quite a bit so I can justify the spend as medicinal!). Free Halford's MOT tomorrow after air freshener purchase :money: but will do some pre-MOT checks first just in case I need to change any bulbs etc.

Family drama still going on but I'm feeling a lot calmer. I don't have a lot of spare energy/spoons right now so I'm not going to invest in that one.
