Sending virtual hugs, hope family situation gets sorted out soon and you maintain your equilibrium . Your OH friends sound fantastic, cooking you a dinner in your own home that's the sort of friends I need.

Thanks, all!
I'm past the worst but have a lingering sniffle, cough and congestion which is pretty annoying! OH and I are off to an all-day music event on Saturday (complete with favourite bands) so I am hoping to have fully recovered by then. Plus I have another 2 days in London next week, which is always a drain for me.
Just done (most of) the MSE pre-MOT checks. Tyres pumped, screenwash etc checked, lights checked. Fingers crossed my precious car passes as we all depend on it! 5 years old so should be fine.Choose kind0 -
Good news! Car passed no problems and no pointers for future work needed. So pleased. Cost me £1.99 for an air freshener
Admittedly I did then spend £5 having a subway as that was the only place to wait that wasn't a grubby chair right by the door in the autocentre. Made the most of the bottomless sodas then spent the rest of the evening peeing
Also discovered a charity shop for the local hospice round the corner and bought a book for OH and an Ikea laptop table for £5 (it'd been on my Ikea list for some time but for the life of me I can't remember why :rotfl:) Ashamed to say it was maccy ds for dinner after DD's judo. We were late to collect her after visiting a nearby friend who's had a rough time recently so she picked the dinner option!
Having a chat with our friend tonight, she told us she'd be able to retire from teaching at the end of the year. She's such an amazing teacher who hasn't been herself with stress for too long. It's great to see the weight being lifted from her shoulders now she knows she can retire and has control back. Such a remote prospect for me but still a motivator to keep chipping away at the mortgage.Choose kind0 -
Glad the car past its MOT. Have to say that DH having the option to retire early from work or going part time is the motivator for us to paying the mortgage off early too (he'll be 61 with how much we're paying currently).

Thanks, CR!
We are bunking off swimming tonight as OH has a friend from uni and her little boy round. DD is very sociable (which I admire/envy) and just wanted to hang out with them, even though she'd never met them before. Batch cook bean chilli and rice with OH's famous home-made guacamole for the adults, chicken and rice for littl'uns :j
Bit of a major spend day unfortunately. Had to take the dash cams back to Halfords for the third time - just been so flaky and we'd already done a software update ourselves as they can't do them instore (even though the company know it's an issue). So done with those but then upgrading to Garmins has cost me an extra £151  I know they are a good brand (I've used Garmins for sports and outdoorsy stuff) but even so it's kinda painful :rotfl:. Car virtual pot will be in deficit til the new yearso nothing better go wrong!
Also filled up the car, £41.51 at Asda, had the plumber round £40 and spent £34.50 on Amazon for pressies (DD is mad keen on Wonder so bought her the journal and calendar for Xmas and a couple of bits for other people). Luckily it all comes from my various pots and budgets.
Tomorrow is all-day music thing for OH and me, staying in a cheap hotel (already paid for from our trips out stash that OH funds a few quid a month). Should have £30 left to pay for drinks and food. Really looking forward to it. OH's mental health counsellor has 'prescribed' more trips out for us as a couple so it's all medicinal:beer: Just hope lingering cough and sore throat don't get in the way too much. Will be stocking up on Hall's just in case.

Hope you have a fab time tomorrow.DH and I haven't been to a music festival in ages think that needs to be on the list for next year. DD1 has been invited to go to download with my sister next year. We've often thought about going to the beautiful days festival down in Devon but not got round to it yet.
