After some advice please. My OH's job seekers allowance will soon come to an end and when it does we already know he cannot claim income based job seekers allowance and they say i earn too much (hmmmm i wish).

Anyway desperate times call for desperate measures, so he had someone come over and they talked about becoming a catalogue distributer for Kleeneze.

Anyone had any experience of this, is the money ok? Basically anything over £60 a week is fantastic to us and this is all the benefit he gets.

We were intitally quiet excited, its something he can put a lot of effort into right away while still looking for a better job and i would help out as well. Then we thought when he did get a better job, we'd still do this part time together.

He then rang his parents and his mum was very quick to shoot down the idea, leaving my OH quiet down in the dumps.

What do people think? He has to decide by tomorrow sometime as they will call and ask what he's going to do.

I used to do it, if he is prepared to put the work in, and its really hard at the beginning, then it could be worth it for him.

He needs to remember that he basically will be running his own business and if he doesnt put the hardwork in for very little at the beginning, then he wont see anything from it.

It's like any small business, it takes time to build up, but he doesn't have to worry about keeping stock and such like.

Have a look on this thread, there are a couple of other threads knocking about if you do a search - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=920621

As Jo_F points out, he will be starting his own business and everything that entails. Keeping a basic set of accounts is a useful skill to have, then you can see if you've made any profit or not for your efforts.

Good luck whatever you decide. Like Jo_F, I also used to be a Kleeneze agent.

Thanks for that link Maz, its really put us off the idea now. Especially that other companies have no up front free and this one has £75 up front, with money so tight we definately cannot afford to loose £75.

    Take your time.
You mention that he only has until tomorrow to decide !!
Don't be silly, and certainly dont allow anyone to put time pressure on you.
The opportunity to join will be there tomorrow, next week and probably next year.
YOU will be running YOUR own business so decide things like when YOU join.
There are other opportunities out there so have a good look around the board.
    best of luck.

My mums a Kleeneze distributor and she's been doing it for about 5 - 6 years. She enjoys meeting the customers, and all the meetings she attends which help to motivate her. She's certainly made her money back very quickly & I haven't known anyone who hasn't - haven't they got a moneyback guarantee in place tho anyway for your first couple of weeks? She probably earns about £25K now and she's built it up from nothing so for a p/t income its not bad. However, if you're looking for something immediate & short term, then pushing trolleys in your local supermarket might be just as lucrative. If you want something to build, then go for it - it's a good and proven business model.

As another poster on here mentions, you get about 14 days 'cooling off' period anyway. If you can't afford to lose £75, maybe Betterware could be an option? There's no outlay so no risk. Just a thought.

Also, with Kleeneze you would be effectively starting a business, so as with any business, you'd expect to have some sort of outlay at the start and tbh, £75 to start a business isn't very much. You have to make the right decision for you though, try to get as much factual information as you can before taking the plunge.

    Good luck!

And, if he only has till tomorrow to decide, then I sugges that you let it go at this point, no sponsor should be pushing a prospect so harshly, it's not as if there is a cut off date for signing up.

Any decent sponsor will talk to him and allow him the time to think it through. I spoke to two before I signed up, one of them was really pushy and even now, over 3 years on, I am still getting occasional emails from them, and I wouldn't mind, but I told them I had signed with someone else.

There is just no way that he should feel pressured into this, and if you decide to pass this time, then they should respect that choice, if at a later date you change your mind, then I would say come back here, cos there are distributors on here, and then there are those of us like myself and Maz, who used to do it, and could possibly put you in touch with a different sponsor.... one that isn't so pushy.

I am sure that Maz will agree with me on this
