I did this for about 3 years and did manage to build up a good customer base so made an ok p/t income out of it. The thing that constantly got to me was how the company charge a fee for all the bits you need. If you are due to pick up your catalogues on a rainy day you can easily loose 50% of them through damages and they cost alot to replace. It can work - i managed to recruit 4 people in those 3 years of doing it, but they didn't stick it out for long - and as i wasn't a great success myself at it struggled to motivate them to continue.

Basically just from putting out catalogues I was getting about £2000 sales/month max which was around £400 pounds cash in hand, then take off all the expenses you have to pay out for was probably more like £300. Not a bad p/t income but it was a fair few hours I was doing every week.

Yes i agree you can make a good part time income if you spend the time building a good customer base (this took us 9 months of dropping 200 catalogues each week), a tip for keeping catalogues dry is to change the snappy bags either every drop or every other, we found this cheaper than replacing catalogues BUT it still doesn't solve those that aren't sealed before being put out or those that are deliberately filled with water and them sealed (yes we had a few!!!) or those that have hot coffee/tea cups stood on them and burnt a hole in them and so on.

I think after expenses you can scrape above the minimum wage for the hours you actually put in (including bagging, rebagging, deliveries, going back a few times for brochures or deliveries, printing slips etc etc) , if you are content with that great, its when you start thinking well theres got to be an easier way and get told about recruiting that the slippery slope starts to happen if you aren't aware. More spending for advertising, meetings, info packs, postage etc, website etc so you are encouraged to retail more yourself to earn more to invest back in.

My parents used to do kleeneze, and it does work, but only if you work hard at it. My parents regret doing it now because they missed out on our teenage years and both me and my brother had a bad time. I wouldn't recommend it unless you are willing to work about 16+ hours a day

I did yrs ago and personally think you are better off with betterware as kleeneze does not have set areas so you will find several people putting books through which only serves to annoy householders and reduce income not to mention waste your time and money on books - where as betterwear you have a specifiied area and no set up costs.

I have just read the linked thread, I had no idea you had to pay for the books. We have never (&will never) ordered, and used to put the books outside at the stated time where they sat & sat until we threw them in the bin.

There are several threads on Kleeneze.
It works for some people and doesnt for others.
You need to find someone that will tell you the truth about all the additional costs and then make up your mind. If someone promises you 'the world' then beware. But it does work if you are prepared to commit the time and effort and some cost. catalogues, replacement catalogues, specialogues, internet charge etc. The quality of the catalogues are better than betterware.

My ex-landlordc used to do it. From what I could gather when I talked in depth to him about it (or rather he was trying to sign me up) is that it's a Multi Level Marketing (scam??).

You have to outlay for all the bumph (the 75 is just the initial outlay). Very few people buy and most of your income comes from recruiting sellers underneath you, where you earn a fraction of everything they sell, and a smaller fraction of everything the people they recruit sell.

Apparantly that's where you earn the cash. He had to go to lots of brainwashing seminars--- not about selling kleeneze stuff--- about recruiting people under him.

I guess for everything you sell, the person who roped you into it will make a percentage and so forth.

He used to work all night every night at it for not a great return. I often thought he'd do better delivering papers, and much less risk.
I'll have some cheese please, bob.
