    Can’t talk to anyone at the proper licence people as they are closed so will have to wait until Monday to try and get this sorted.
    It's Licensing Plus you need to be talking to since that's who you've paid.

    TV Licencing themselves can't help, they just want you to pay for your licence..
  • I’ve been in touch with LicensingPlus on their chat page. They claim to have no record of us taking out a licence! Despite me having a confirmation email. I have reported them to the police.
    My husband telephoned them three times, was put on hold and then was cut off every time.

    My understanding is that there is a relationship between LicencePlus and TV Licensing of some sort. If there are problems with LicencePlus then TV Licensing need to be informed so that they can take appropriate action.

    That's not what it says on their website as quoted in the OP;
    https://www.licenceplus.co.uk/
    ...the disclaimer that they are not linked to the TV Licensing authority is hidden away in the small print
    So, if "Bikerfee" has proof he paid them (not simply a confirmation E-Mail), it is LicencePlus which will need to be chased.

    I do hope you have bank statements proving that you've paid this firm? A "confirmation E-mail" proves nothing.
    The Police won't be interested unless you can show a crime has been committed.
    You'll still have to pay for your license too..

    Yes... but somewhere in there, either LicencePlus do not have access to TV Licensing systems and are completely fraudulent (in which case TV Licensing need to know) OR LicencePlus do have access to TV Licensing systems in order to provide the services that they claim to provide but have "issues" with, in which case TV Licensing need to know.

    I've asked that question on LicencePlus Live Chat.... still waiting. :(

    edit: my chat session was closed down with no answer - perhaps they've left the building? :(:(

    I've done the same just now, this is the answer they gave:
    "Licence Plus provides third party TV Licence services on behalf of customers. We also offer pay monthly products, finance is provided by DivideBuy. We are not affiliated with the TV Licensing Authority or https://www.tvlicensing.co.uk, please see our terms and privacy policy for more information on our services. "
    So how does it work then, I asked?
    "We are a third party provider that allows you to get a new tv licence with extras such as a new tv or ipad, if you wish to not use our services you can visit www.tvlicensing.co.uk"

    Looks to be no relationship whatever..

    It's a separate credit agreement, which is detailed in this link;
    http://www.licenceplus.co.uk/terms

    I certainly shan't be purchasing anything from them...

    So how does the Licence actually get bought? Do they really go to TV Licensing pretending to be each customer individually?

    Sounds a lot like it:-
    2.2 By placing an order with Licence Plus and agreeing to these Terms you give Licence Plus permission to use the personal details provided by you the Customer to act on your behalf as an agent with the BBC TV Licensing Authority.

    This permission extends to acting on your behalf as an agent when applying for a New TV Licence, renewing an existing TV Licence or changing details of your current TV Licence with the BBC TV Licensing Authority. In order to provide our services we will ask you the following details (including but not limited to): Licence holder name, TV licence number, licenced property address, registered email address and contact telephone number. Licence Plus will only ever use the details given to provide the services listed above in accordance with these Terms. Please see section [5] Data Protection & Privacy Policy for more information.

    I still think that if enough people complained, TV Licensing would refuse to deal with them.

    They claim to act as an agent on behalf of the customer which is not illegal, of course. However, I can see no mention of requiring a Letter of Authority (LOA) so you well be correct in your assumption.

    Dodgy.

    I'll leave you to take this further..

    I have tried to get a refund via "chargeback" and guess what, this only applies if money leaves your account After you have reported your card as lost/stolen.

    It's simple, don't give any money to tv licensing plus, they are scammers.
