I have a Santander Select account. I hope they will merge so I can one day avail of a Bo Selecter account.

It’s kind of made we wonder why? They never used the williams and Glyn name to launch it.

I'd guess Bo will be aimed at the young market.

To me, Williams & Glyn sounds like a brand of whisky, a shop my grandparents would have used, an accountant or solicitor.

Yes, far too old fashioned for an internet-only bank.

Bo is just ridiculous though. Who wants to bank with Body Odour, or the Bu**er Off Bank?

They could have gone for WaG, or W&G, or wAg or something pseudo trendy - with a nod to the past. But what do I know.

Just what I thought, appeal to both the young and those of a certain age.

The 'young' is a limited number of people and a highly competitive market, so to be sucessful long-term challenger banks will need to appeal to a wider range of people than they currently seem to be interested in.

To people of that certain age, 'Bo' does nothing. (Unless their mind associates it with 'Derek' of course. ;))

Basically it's a reskinned Starling Bank run by the crooks I was trying to avoid when I switched to banking with Monzo. No thanks.

    Crooks?

That’s quite a bold statement, have you any actual evidence?

I know some of the people setting it up and had never heard that they’d been accused let alone convicted of any crimes.

To me it reads as..bow or boe, rather than boo. BO hadn't even registered.
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)
