Car reversed in to me, driver claiming I drove in to them :S

Hi all,Very similar thing happened to my OH.
Driving down the road in a supermarket car park, car reversed out of a space in the side of her (damage to wife's OSR door and quarter panel and damage to other cars rear bumper and tailgate). Driver, a young girl, admitted liability and exchanged details.
Reported to my insurance company and thought all good and sorted.
Some time later letter from my insurance company saying she claims my wife drove into the back of her !!!!!! !!!!!
Spoke to my company saying unless my OH has found a way to drive her car sideways as damage to our car is on the OS rear door that was not possible.
They asked to email them pictures of front, back and both sides of our car showing damage to side to show her company.
They (her insurance) admitted liability shortly after !!!!
When I said to my insurance about her admitting liability at the scene and then fibbing after, they said she'd probably been advised to later by OH / family member as a fault accident her being young would hammer her premiums for a few years.
They parked in to a bay, and was straightening up, and when the two cars collided, their vehicle was stationary'.
The witness confirms that the third party driver reversed in to me. There is no damage to the frontside of my vehicle, just on the rear wheel arch left side area, door etc. So it confirm's that front of my vehicle passed without collision. There is a massive dent on the wheel arch, door, and lower bumper area, and other scrapes and scratches.Same thing happened in an accident outside our house - the young driver pulled out onto a main road which caused another driver to swerve and collide with another car.
The driver at fault initially admitted her mistake until her Dad turned up and got her to change her story, blaming the driver who had to swerve (or T-bone her car) because 'he had been speeding'.
This was despite having a bus-load of witnesses who had all seen her make the dangerous manoeuvre.
What was the outcome of this?So how did you get on OP?
I called my insurance and they informed me that the third party driver reported to their insurance:
They parked in to a bay, and was straightening up, and when the two cars collided, their vehicle was stationary. That I drove in to their vehicle as it was stationary'0 -
Might still be worth getting a reference number.
Do you have photos of the damage? Let the insurance company handle it - hopefully the photos show it as being fairly clear cut - they were reversing out of a bay, you were on the 'road' and the damage is on your side. You'd have had to be doing a handbrake turn to have been the car that was moving.
I called the Police on the morning of the next day after the incident. They informed me that there is no injury, so not a Police matter.
I don't know if I should inform the Police? If the third party driver is making a wrong allegation, doesn't it have to be proved?
Yes I have photographs of the scene of incident, placement of vehicles, damage showing on both vehicles. Bearing in mind, the damage on the third party vehicle is superficial (my paint marks no other damage).
The vehicle was assessed by an authorised repairer, and they assessed the vehicle 5 days after the accident and obviously reported all damage in a report, photographed etc. I also have my photographs as the insurance was sent an estimate of repair and had to approve it.
There was no damage to the front of the vehicle, all the damage is on the side left. The rear left door, quarter panel, wheel damage, wheel cap damage, lower left side of bumper, and the left hand side of the light as the light curves slightly to the left. There is no damage to the front of the vehicle, or to the front left side, it's all rear side.
My speed was not fast, it is a supermarket and I was probably doing 5/6mph in reality as it happened near the entrance and people were walking etc.0 -

They simple said that they pulled in to the bay, and were straightening up, and I came and hit them. They say that that when the collision took place, their vehicle was stationary. But this is not the case, because how on earth can there be no damage to the front if I drove in to them?
The damage is only on the left hand side, door, wheel arch area and on their car their is only paint marks from my car, no other damage at all!!!0 -
Once it's proven that I did not drive in to them, as only. damage on the side of my car (where they reversed), maybe I should report them to the Police then for fraud?0

Police won't be interested, I shouldn't bother. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Dear all
Thank you for the detailed responses and discussion. I am sorry I replied late, had a very busy Friday evening, come home and fell asleep!
I am extremely worried about this. It is my first accident after 12 years of driving.
I passed at 17 in the UK and prior to that I was already driving aged 15 in the USA (I am a dual national, though British born and bred).
So since 15 no accidents, fines, points tickets. All clear! But this comes a long and worries me. Premium will rise, NCD on hold etc.0 -

This what they informed to their insurers:

The damage does not show this as the damage would be on the front but is on the rear left hand side of the car, door, wheel arch etc.
What do you think?0 -
I never drive in to a bay UNLESS it is a very quiet place, it is easier for me to set off in the direction of entering in to a bay. Otherwise, I always reverse in to a bay and park my car right on the edge of supermarket car parks to avoid all this.
Laziness is key!0 -
HI ALL
This is a quick sketch of what happened. The green rectangle is my car and the blue is the car that reversed
I was going in the straight on direction the two dots are my headlights lols
The X shows where the blue car hit and where the damage is. Blue car claiming that I drove in to them but no damage to the front left side, just where the X is
Doesn't make sense at all as to what blue car is saying.
There is also scratches and scrapes as my car has progressed forward, scratches are to the right of the impact point, so the lower bumper and left rear light, and not towards the front passenger side. The damage is on the right of the impact point.
