  • Unfortunately, you may be seen as a greater risk when you have passed your test and are out there on your own.

I've mentioned this before, but doing your Pass Plus after you've passed your test can half your premiums. In fact, Endsleigh halved my premium if I agreed to do my Pass Plus within 6 months of taking out the policy. All I had to do was send the certificate to them. (This was a few years ago, but not that many!)

No it's not, with a provisional you'll be viewed as a supervised learner....when you pass, in insurance companies eyes, you will become a boy racer!

    maybe an idea, but..

how about add a parent to the insurance, insured in your name, you own the car, its registered in your name, but you add someone to the policy. I have used this in the past to lower my car insurance.

I would avoid elephant.co.uk / admiral as they are not very modification friendly. My car has optional extras fitted from the renault factory, and as they are different that standard on the car, they would not replace them, and i would have to pay the extra.

Dont fall into the trap of insuring the car in your mums name, with you as the named driver. Insurance companies are not stupid, you may get away with it on a small accident, but if your parents are in there 50's, own a new VW Passat, and mum a Audi A3, then the car involved in the accident is a 1993 Ford Escort RS Turbo which is lowered, with exhaust, kitted out with bass box, ice and all sorts of weird neons, then they know whose car it is and car insurance is voided.

I believe that an IN10 would be put onto your driving license, which means this quote would be reasonable, as its for insurance fraud / driving without insurance.

It should not be too hard to sell on the car you have now, probably for the same price you bought it, then start again. Get quotes on cars you are interested in buying before going ahead with a purchase.

Try ecarinsurance, they were best for my 18 y/o lad, £1040 for a 1 litre Corsa, also get quotes for TPF&T as they are sometimes cheaper than TPO

You could do with being the policyholder so you can build up your own no claims entitlement though
