Would you buy a house with no room for tumble dryer or dishwasher?

When I bought my first house it was a two bed terrace and only had a washing machine in the kitchen.
I removed the washing machine and had a dishwasher installed in the kitchen, and got a plumber to run a water and waste connection to under th stairs and had a washing machine and tumble drier there, and then I had a carpenter “build in” cupboards for it so I had some coat hooks above, a tall cupboard for ironing board and vacuum etc.
I’ll try and add some photos later but over six years later I’m really pleased with it, although tbh I rarely use the tumble drier.0 -
Dishwasher yes. Tumble dryer no. Don't have one in this house and don't have one in the house we are buying now. Might consider sticking one in the garage, however I have a toddler and hope to have another in the next 2 years so washing levels are increasing.0

I don't believe a kitchen is the right place for a washing machine or a tumble dryer.
The space currently occupied by the washing machine would fit a dishwasher, already plumbed for it.
If there is no space in the house, erect a decent well insulated shed as close as possible and create an outside utility room for the washer and dryer.0 -
My parents always had a dishwasher when I was growing up and for the first couple of years after I moved out I missed it, but I'm quite accustomed to washing up now. If I was planning to start a family in the home I'm hoping to buy, I'd probably want space for one, but as a single person with no plans in that direction for the short or mid-term, it'd be a bonus to have it rather than a negative not to.
I wouldn't mind a tumble dryer: there are times you just need something dry quickly and not really any substitute, but it wouldn't be the deciding factor, and you can always look for a washer-dryer. (Currently, I hang stuff out when I can, and hang it inside when I can't, with a moisture trap in the room. It can be hard in winter to get things dry within a reasonable time-frame, but that's mostly because I'm a lodger with a landlady who's very stingy with the heating.)0 -
I've never had a tumble dryer so lack of that wouldn't put me off. I would not give up my dishwasher.
you could consider how much it matters to you - you may be able to fit a dishwasher by sacrificing storage space, for instance, which was what I did when I first got a dishwasher.
You can consider whether there are other things you could move out of the kitchen. For instance, if you give up a kitcehn cupboard to make space for a dishwasher, think about what you would otherwise use the cupboard for, and if that could go elsewhere. For instance, could you have a china cabinet or sideboard where you kept crockery and glassware, in your dining room rather than storing those things in the kitchen?
I've also seen arrangements where people stack a washing making and tumble dryer(not directly, they normally fit a shelf between for the top one to sit on) or you can get a washer dryer which takes up less space but is less efficient / more expensive.
I think it depends on what the other benefits are of this house for you, and what you would have to give up if you don't but this one, but buy something different with a larger kitchen instead. Then decide which things are the highest priority for you, personally. All posts are my personal opinion, not formal advice Always get proper, professional advice (particularly about anything legal!)0 -
A tumble dryer just needs power can go anywhere.
Washer and dishwasher need drains0 -

Only if it's a condensing dryer.0 -
I have always had a combined washing machine and dryer. It wouldn't even cross my mind.
Both of the flats I've lived in (1 and 2 bed flats in London) have only had space for a single combi machine/dryer in the utility cupboard. I had a dishwasher in one of the flats but rarely used it.
I would definitely want separate washer/dryer/dishwasher for a family property. But for a single or couple I think a combi washer/dryer is fine, and a dishwasher is unnecessary.0 -
Absolutely. I don't have a microwave or a toaster either. Washing up for one is easy and line dried washing much nicer than tumble dried :-)0

Never lived anywhere with a tumble dryer.
Never used a dishwasher outside of the family home; don't own enough crockery and cutlery to fill one.
Interesting to see what others consider essential. They are an EYESORES!!!!0
