Morning all.
Thank you Natty for prodding us in the right direction for this week and Valli last week. I am still working off my own list most of the time - very slowly reducing the Toots and getting the place sorted. About another 15 books were added to my study shelves. My thinking is that when they are full, I simply won't be able to acquire any more! I have a bag of books to pass on to friends still at college and some other stuff to go to the CS and the women's refuge. I also need to return 6 books to college library at some point tomorrow.
/rantalert
DH has a hospital appointment this morning, we are supposed to be going to the U3A quiz group together this afternoon, and I'm on coffee duty at the Old Wives' meeting this evening.
I was woken by my alarm at 6.55, got up, went downstairs, made a cuppa, and prepared breakfast, thinking that I could hear DH moving about upstairs and showering. I came back upstairs to my study at about 7.20 while he was still in the bathroom, heard him come out, but now 15 minutes later (about to go and have my own shower) have discovered him back in bed, not yet showered or shaved, playing a mindless sweet-crushing game on his iPad. He has a horse piddle appointment at 9.20 and I am expected to get him there on time, through Monday morning rush hour traffic. He has gone back into the bathroom in a sulk because I pointed out to him that he really ought to get moving (or words to that effect).
Wot the ********!!!!! I am fed up with looking after the house /garden /dog /family single-handed and fitting his taxi service round my own work.

Sorry for the outburst. I know lots of people have it far worse than me.
Here's wishing everyone a calm and constructive week, and GWS to all poorlies xx0 -
Thank you for all the lits and work that goes in to them. xx
ionafan - can you get someone into help you, for a short while ie student or similar to dog walk, local gardener once a fortnight until the end of the season, then again in the spring. That would leave you taxi services, house, OH and you plus all the other bits you do, try and see if there is a way any one can help you, hugs xx

(((Hugs))) Ionafan. Most unlike you to have an outburst, so you must be very stressed indeed. \rant response If you want a suggestion from me as to how to manage this extremely stressful behaviour, which I doubt because you're a very bright cookie, I'd ring round three local taxi firms and ask what discount they give for regular users. And then when OH has an appointment he expects to be ferried to, I'd just make one phone call, and let him know what time his taxi will be arriving. You can't do everything that needs doing, but you can delegate and taxi-ing is both a caring and a delegatable role. \ends I suspect rather more than two of us are a bit tired of being the person that not only does all the planning for running the household, but also the doing of it.
*Healing vibes* to the Pigpen Clan.
Must go and put some laundry on and get cracking on the listy - thanks Valli and Natty, as always.Better is good enough.0 -
Fayolle I’ve been thinking about doing a deep clean challenge for a couple of weeks now. And I thought as we’ve had the transition from Summer to Autumn I decided it was a good time to do it. I much prefer to Autumn clean rather than Spring clean
Besides there was a method to my madness as I need to get my house back into order again now I have no cleaner..(am still trying to persuade my old cleaner to come back) But don’t feel you have to do the deep clean challenge if you don’t want to.
Piggers gentle hugs honey, it’s always the way when the kids first go back to school isn’t it?. Every germ going around makes it’s home with you.. I always got it when my nieces went back to school. I’m sure they took great delight into spreading their germs. Hope you all get well soon
Wishing these lists aren’t compulsory honey. Only do what you can, and if that is Level One then that’s fine. We don’t want you to beat yourself up over them. Heck I’ve not done any of them properly over the summer and I’m one of the list writers..lol
Atb is this a full time job now hon? I think I missed it when you said you had got a job. Try and pace yourself so that you aren’t burnt out too much. As I said to wishing just do what you can.
Dizzy that’s brilliant that you’ve got your mojo sort of back – I’m hoping that mine will make it’s appearance soon. It’s fluttering away in the corner and every now and again I grab hold of it
Iona feel free to have as many rants as you want. I can’t give you any advice but I can offer you lots of hugsI think I’m going to have to scrap my Toots list and make a new one. I can truthfully say I haven’t really looked at it properly since Toot’s passing. Yikes that sounds awful!!!
Well done on your good deed kaz
Honeybear I can say that I’m another one that is a bit tired of being the one that does all the household stuff. But then I also feel a bit guilty as I know DH can’t do it at the moment. But I can’t help being selfish can I?

You can't make this up!
Get to horse piddle.
DH checks in at Outpatients.
His file isn't on the trolley.
Receptionist checks list for today.
His name isn't on the list.
He produces letter to prove that he's come on the right day and time.
She checks his computer file and says the date was changed to October "for clinical reasons."
He produces another letter which says that he has an appointment in October with the same consultant but makes no mention of the fact that this is a rescheduling of his appointment rather than an extra one.
She says sorry, several other people have received similar letters using the wrong template.
He says "Then please pass on a complaint from me to the woman who sent this."
I comment "WOMAN???? It was probably a MAN!!!!!":mad::mad:
I did at least get to visit one of our parishioners who is currently an in-patient - my new business card was accepted as ID- leaving DH to wait in the coffee shop. He had the sense to buy a coffee for me as well, which was still of a drinkable temperature when I came off the ward. And since we got home, he has hoovered through downstairs while I completed the Deep Clean Challenge, cleaned the kitchen and ensuite including steam-mopping the floors, tidied and dusted the LR and DR, even turned out and dusted all the shelves in both the china/drinks cabinets, and finally gave vent to my total frustration by cleaning the French doors in the LR inside and out for the first time since about Easter
Thanks HB and Kaz for the helpful suggestions. I will think about what I can do to make life easier. I do need the hour a day out walking with Rosie, though: the view from the hill keeps me sane.

(((More hugs))) for you, Ionafan. When things get fractious and I want to make sure I don't say anything I shouldn't, Kelpie gets and extra walk. That's the only job I wouldn't delegate! He's had his hour in the fenced field this morning which does him the world of good, and the only place he can be allowed to footle around off the lead on his own. It's full of dog smells because it's an agility training field so he loves it. Leafletted another housing estate on the way back into the city.
I'm about to put a second load through the WM and then finish the tax return. I'm shattered, so I've resorted to chocolate biscuits. No wonder the Slinky thing isn't happening.Better is good enough.0 -
I've not found my missing wheel yet - but I'm still rollin' along. Having [STRIKE]been knocked off my feet by[/STRIKE] not found the pharmacist's recommendations any use at all
I have resorted to water and dry toast....;)
I've had a shower, washed my hair and put on clean clothes - feel better for that. I've also made my bed, washed one bowl of pots, fed the birds, put out the rubbish and washed/ hung out towels/ tea towel. Oh, and I nipped to the PO and paid the gas bill. And recycled some cans and plastic bottles.
Not much but it's a start. Next I'll dry the pots and bring in the towels. It's very autumnish out there - my favourite time of year

Evening, all!
Getting seriously teed off with the whole staying-in-Devon thing now. It's costing me an absolute fortune, money I just don't have - there's £30 a week in bus travel, there's £100 every ten days so that he gets to eat (his mother doesn't provide any food whatsoever), plus there's the money I didn't have spent in August on being down there in the first place. And he's not allowed to put the heating or even the fire in the living room on, so he's sleeping under a quilt, two sleeping bags, all his clothes and a woolly hat because he's so cold (it got down to about 4 Celsius last night, not allowing for the dampness or windchill). What makes it worse is that she's going on holiday for six weeks in just over a fortnight, costing thousands, and the lack of food or heating is because she says she CAN'T AFFORD IT. And she's told him he can't stay there when she's away, presumably because she doesn't want to have to pay for gas, electricity or water for the period. How the frack can she claim she can't afford it if she can afford the cost of a luxury hotel in Cambodia/Thailand for a month and a half? Told a friend at work, whose first thought was 'serves the stupid mare right if somebody breaks into the place or a pipe bursts because she didn't want a free housesitter in exchange for about thirty quid in bills'. I said nothing.
I have pointed out to Himself that this is completely financially unsustainable for me. His reply was 'I know'. THAT DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING.
I can feel a rage vacuuming coming on.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0
