i guess it all just depends, I recently set up ICICI account, no problems at all, Alliance & Leicester however lost out on my money some time ago by making it too difficult to open account tho I would try again with their current account as it has good rate interest & i'm about to upset my bank attempting to claim charges back.
Guess sometimes just fall lucky/unlucky.Who says I have to be normal?

Had an account with ICICI for about 5 months now, have made half a dozen transactions and have no problems to report. I sent them the original documents (slightly risky via Royal Mail I know) and recieved them back a few days later. The account was set up and I managed to get on to their fixed bonds just before the interest rates dropped. i've been very happy with them so far.
I quite often read complaints about them in this forum so they obviously have problems in some areas in their business mainly communications. But so far i've recieved straight forward high intetest savings and i'm very glad I joined.0
