Amazing device: obviously equipped with ground-to-air radar.

Some Supermarkets work like this-there is a camera which reads your number as you go in, and one that reads it when you go out-if the computer reads more than 2 Housr, or whatever the time limit is, you will get a ticket thru the post, no Wardens/Attendents involved.

On Excels website then claim to adhere to the DVLA Code of Practice For Private Car Parking Enforcement. One point of the code of practice is that they affix a ticket to the users windscreen in a prominent position. However if you challenge them, they will probably say "its a voluntary code" and the DVLA wont be interested.

sorry cant do links (anyone else post it?)
-but if you google bbc face the facts excel
you get the transcript of a very interesting radio programme about them.

It's not a fine, Holly. It's an invoice.

Please send me your address, so that I can invoice you for reading this post. ;)

This is interesting reading for those who don't understand that there is a difference between fines issued by the Courts and private parking invoices:

Amazing pepipoo allows blatant spam like the first reply OP got on pepipoo.

Btw radar detectors will soon be illegal in UK.

It's an automatically generated advert which goes to fund the site. Lots of forums are doing this now. It's also used as an incentive to get people to sign up, as it's only viewable to guests and not logged-in members.

you do not have to pay this

this is not a fine but an invoice based on a purported contract.

best thing you can do is pop over to the pepipoo website and have alook at the parking tickets forum which is excellent and will give you step by step advice on what to do.

whatever you do dont contact them without reading pepipoo and never admit you were driving!

because it is a private car park only the driver of the vehicle on the day and not the registered owner can be bound by a contract(and even this is open to interpretation) and they have no right to know who is driving( only the police and council have the right to know this information)

get over to the pepipoo website and/or pm me for advice

    Neil

So what you're saying is, if they *can* prove who was driving, by using CCTV evidence for example, then the OP could find herself with a court order to pay up.

Even if they could prove who the driver was, the £100 penalty would never stand up in court as it wouldn't reflect the car park's losses for the alleged breach of contract. This excellent post by sarahg1969 on a recent thread is spot on:
