FURIOUS! parking fine recieved when no ticket was issued

hi (posted this in another forum but though i might get a response here 2), can anybody help me. ive recieved a letter through the post from excel parking saying i owe them £100 as i havent paid a parking fine. however there was no ticket on the car, me and my boyfriend both remember the exact date when it was supposed to be placed on my car and there was definatly no ticket there! it all sounds very intimidating, the letter states "failure to pay the notice may result in court proceedings being taken against you which may lead to a warrant to the bailiffs. should you wish to avoid court proceedings which may result in you incurring court fees, solicitors costs and accuring interest you must pay into the 'central payments office' the amount stated within 7 days of the issie of this notice".
obviously if i had a parket ticket i would have paid it, and not left it to reach £100 so im really annoyed as you can tell!
can anybody tell me what i have to do to contest this? can i write and ask for photographic proof that a ticket was placed on my car?
yours angrily

where abouts was your car when you werte suposed to have got this ticket?? was it on a supermarket car park? private car park? council car park?
some of the wardens on these places dont take photo's of the ticket actually on the car. i'd write them a letter explaining that you never received a ticket as there was definatly not one on the car and would they provide you with the evidence of your car having a ticket issued on it. Is there a reason why you would've received a ticket? yellow lines? outside parking bays? no ticket oe ticket expired?0 -

it was in a free supermarket carpark, they say i overstayed the maximum period permitted(which im not sure if i did or not) but there was definatly no ticket. the car park was virtually empty and there is no reason why i shouldnt have recieved one if it was issued.
thanks 4 ure help x0 -

you do not have to pay this
this is not a fine but an invoice based on a purported contract.
best thing you can do is pop over to the pepipoo website and have alook at the parking tickets forum which is excellent and will give you step by step advice on what to do.
whatever you do dont contact them without reading pepipoo and never admit you were driving!
because it is a private car park only the driver of the vehicle on the day and not the registered owner can be bound by a contract(and even this is open to interpretation) and they have no right to know who is driving( only the police and council have the right to know this information)
get over to the pepipoo website and/or pm me for advice

i hate supermarket car park wardens!!!! my fella got a fine one day and i confronted the warden asking him to explain why he had issued it.,.... he said 'cuz the machine told me to duck" apparantly he had walked the carpark earlier that morning (it was 10.30am when the car was first parked on there) he was parked on there 15 mins whilst he nipped in the nearby bank then nipped in the supermarket. my fella then went to birmingham airport, a good 2 hour return journey then came home, picked us up then we went shopping at that same supermaket. When we came out the fine was on the window (2.30pm) the jumped up ticket slapping warden said we'd overstayed the allowed time, i said how do you work that out? the car was in birmingham 3 hours ago, he then said "ah (think he had a lightbulb moment!!) well there's no return within an hour.... i said "IT WAS 4 HOURS AGO THAT WE WERE HERE...WORK THAT ONE OUT EINSTEIN!!!"....we didnt have to oay the fine as we could prove that he'd been to birmingham via the toll receipts0

that warden sounds horrible! bet you were glad to prove it to wipe the smug look off his face!0

yeah although its a national company working on a 24hour supermarket so when he clocks off the security guards issue tickets to the cars parked near the entrance0

Laura ,I can see that you have posted on pepipoo, and the advice there is correct. This is not a fine, and you can safely ignore it. Or write to them, and tell them to pursue the driver, not you as registered keeper. Also, suggest to them that if they persist in pursuing you, you will see this as harassment, and may need to take further action.0

Some Supermarkets work like this-there is a camera which reads your number as you go in, and one that reads it when you go out-if the computer reads more than 2 Housr, or whatever the time limit is, you will get a ticket thru the post, no Wardens/Attendents involved.0
