How about that one letter actually goes to your MP (or have you done this, sorry, it's too late at night for me to do much else but skim-read?):

...and include this line (in the link below) to cast doubt in their mind if nothing else (we NEED to start playing dirty):

Please include that suggested sentence by waamo...PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Sorry to keep dragging this thread back, but we noticed a post on Facebook from someone with similar issues to those documented above and also instigated by PPM and Gladstones. The victim has received an email from Gladstones containing the following text:
"….Please find attached a copy of our client's completed Directions Questionnaire [doc. not available on Facebook], which will be filed with the court upon their request. You will note we intend to request a special direction that the case be dealt with on the papers and without the need for an oral hearing...."
Apparently, the victim has received court papers and has answered by way of writing an appeal to the court. The result seems to be the above.
Could someone explain the whys and wherefores of this?
Thanks.0 -
No need, that Gs letter is covered by bargepole in the WHAT HAPPENS WHEN post in the NEWBIES thread second post. Standard stuff.
Why look at Facebook about this when everything that can happen is already covered on this forum. That letter specifically, has been used for years and there is a suggested response on loads of threads.
try Googling:
Gladstones parking letter relatively straightforward papers site:forums.moneysavingexpert.com
And you will be amazed...there is no need to go over the same old ground on every thread.
The info you seek is already here. The Gs letter is not a result! Just their tired old tactics.

Okay, thanks for the pointer. I just spent some time reading through parts of the 'newbie' thread: good stuff, and very comprehensive. A question: Gladstones are based in Cheshire. If they have to attend court, say, 200 miles away, do they think twice about it and not turn up, or do they appoint some other local rogue operator to act on their behalf? It's not come to this for us - yet, but knowing something about their mindset in these matters might help in the future.0

They send a legal rep, or sometimes just rely on the Judge reading their 'papers' in their absence, with the Defendant being there in person (= ''advantage Defendant''!).

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but as noted above, Gladstones are stupid and are now taking it to court - papers have been received. One question at this point: it seems from the documents that you need to pay a fee for a counterclaim. How much is this?0

No need to be sorry.
Fees depend on the amount you wish to claim.

Are you saying you have received a Claim Form from the County Court Business Centre?
If so, please tell us the Issue Date printed on that form.0 -

We're currently researching the best way forward and have set up an account on the Moneyclaim website.0 -
read the NEWBIES thread post #2 and do the AOS on the MCOL website using the walkthrough listed in that NEWBIES thread
also email a SAR to the claimant tonight (PPM ?) to their DPO with the usual 30 days warning etc
then start drafting your defence, starting with the concise defence by BARGEPOLE0
