In that situation it is perfectly acceptable to void your bowels and bladder

Run up to the owner and do the same to them

I wouldn't do this - dog might think that you are attacking their owner and get defensive. Staying calm is better.

I don't think the comment was serious ... just a humorous aside. ;)

Obviously depends where it happened and the circumstances involved. Care to elaborate?

Ask the owner to control their dog.

If they don't and/or you are in genuine fear for your safety, report it to the police. Do not let the police fob you off to your local council dog warden, they are required to act under the dangerous dogs act if a dog is causing someone to fear their safety.

What is the matter with people (specifically the OP in this case). Were you bitten? No? Move on.

They cannot, they have a large nasty dog attached to them:rotfl::rotfl:
  • My response? I'd probably jump out of my skin! Then I would ask the owner (if there was one around) to call their dog over to them. If no owner, I would walk away as calmly as possible and get to somewhere that I felt safer.

Large dogs bother me less than small ones. I was bit by a Jack Russell when I was a teenager, and have been nervous around them ever since. I have had German Shepherds all m y adult life, though, and feel more confident around them. That could be because they are well trained though.
