Tried again a few minutes ago, from Gatwick, on a different date, the last day of month, and all the first batch of offers had transfers included.
So, obviously it varies, however it's clear on what criteria that governs these differences.
Am sure it depends on how long is between booking and departure day!
I know the company I spoke with said as much.
I just can't remember if it was TUI or Thomas Cook!!!!
We did a package back in May to Bulgaria, and we had transfers included.
And I'm sure my son we departs Sat with Thomas Cook had transfers.
Both those were booked well in advance. And not last minute bookings0 -

Was it on the TC website? Was it a flexible trips "package" All true packages have free transfers included in the price except for America. All flexible trip packages have to have everything added in ie luggage and transfers.0 -
This thread is drifting.
The OP booked with TUI. Little relevance in making reference to whether Thomas Cook include or exclude transfers.0 -

It's cheaper to buy standalone insurance for the "free car" than to hire one for yourself.
I was not on here in the mid 90's when we were doing this, we book direct now as there is no way I would be interested in the standard car they would be offering.
It can also save a lot of time - 3 hour queues at Sanford spring to mind when an entire plane (or 2) polls up at Dollar all in to 1 lane whist they try to upsell everyone.
We had some good results in the old LV car pick up spots inc an upgrade to a Dodge Durango with a £20 bribe but with the new pick up centre (for your convenience) those days are long gone.

Life is a learning curve - thanks.
Had a look at two - one for Mallorca, the other Ibiza, the carriers were EasyJet and TUI respectively - suggests that TC only include transfers with their own flights.
Or is that jumping to conclusions ?0 -

I'll try and keep it simple.
Flexible trips is Thomas Cooks internet brand. It puts together flights with or without luggage, hotels, transfers, car hire and you select which suits you best. For example if a customer wants to go to Benidorm from East mids they can't on a TC package as TC don't fly from there so they can do it with Ryanair, or Tui flights.
Thomas Cook true packages do use other airlines as you say Easyjet and Tui so when its a true package the transfers and luggage are included for free. All TC are doing is having an allocation of seats so they can fill their hotels, quite often for the destinations that are May to October and TC don't have enough planes.0 -

Do they charter a whole aircraft from external carriers for the former - but only pick up available seats, as required, for the latter ?0 -

Flexible trips mimic DIY so only have the flight and accommodation then people can add in what they want to. A lot of people who use lo cost carriers don't want luggage so would moan if they were forced to pay for something they don't want. Flexi seats are purchased as and when a customer asks for them.
As for the true package they don't charter the whole plane but they will have an allocation on each routing but i don't know how many seats they have on each plane. Madeira on a Monday we use Tui, Mykonos on a Wednesday we use Easyjet and so on.
Tui also do the same and have an allocation on our planes.
I suppose its more cost effective than 1 plane of each going half empty.0 -
In other words "true" package bookings are "flexible" offers with luggage and transfers added, regardless of which carrier is used.
DIY transfers are one thing, but I'm intrigued as to how a punter could go on a 7 night holiday with only cabin baggage allowance.
'Er indoors wouldn't manage more than one day on that allowance !!!0
