jwil said:I'm with Barclays and was in the middle of a DMP with several defaults on my report. I just went online and chose a new deal for my mortgage out of a selection they had on the site. No questions asked, I didn't speak to anyone, and it went through straight away. I think as long as you don't want to change anything, i.e. borrow more or change the term, then a credit check isn't done.1

I have contacted Moorcroft ref changing my DMP from PP to self managed. Only company who have not replied after 2 weeks.
Today recieved email statement from Argos ( who originally owned debt ) showing next payment due.
My question is should I be dealing with Moorcroft or Argos ?
I have a debt with Argos for the last 4 years and they send statements every month, but Moorcroft is dealing with the collection. You should have received at least email from them ( moorcroft) with reference number, which can be used to log in on their website.1 -
Hi guys, just a quick one. Starting my own DMP after using stepchange for over a year. Sent all the letters off a couple of weeks to my debt companies but not yeard anything yet. My payment date with stepchange was usually on the 10th with it going to the relevant companies on the 17th.Do I need to call them all today/tomorrow to organise a payment or wait for contact?0

Hi Everyone,
Me & my partner have been on a DMP with StepChange for around 4 months now.
I have a few questions & hopefully someone can help point me in the right direction?
After looking at the credit files ALL debts are Defaulted which as I understand it that’s a good thing.
An old debt of my partners (£160) isn’t on any of her credit file’s but is included in the DMP - would be be better either not paying or offering a F&F settlement (as I assume it’s unenforceable)
We want to buy our first house around July 2024, however we have a total of 6 debts that will clear off the credit files before this date but based on our payments to the DMP plan it’s going to take around 3 more years to completely clear the DMP; Question is: once they’ve fallen off the credit file what’s the best way to deal with these?
I have a relatively small debt (£335) which comes off my file May 2025, I’m thinking of asking for the CCA for this debt as I avoided it for a while & it was sold a few times to various DCA to try and clear it off my credit file before wanting to get a mortgage
Thanks in advance for your help guys 😊0 -

Try and save a good emergency fund as well, as further down the line, the settlement offers will come rolling in, so you can end the arrangement quicker by doing a settlement deal.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. so without sounding daft - if the creditors don’t produce the CCA’s what happens next?
I’m guessing we still owe the money but cannot be taken to court etc..?Regarding my partners debt that’s not on any of the credit files - should she stop paying?0 -
Hi new to the forum. I’m in Scotland so on a Debt payment plan. Wondering if anyone could help me with this question. Next year my fixed mortgage comes to an end. Will have around £75k left to pay on mortgage with house currently valued at £112k. By the time next year comes I will still have around £15k to pay on my DPP, would I be able to use a mortgage broker to find me a mortgage where I would be able to borrow the £15k to settle my DPP or would this be unlikely?
Many thanks.0 -

If they can`t produce compliant paperwork, and you choose not to pay, there is nothing much they can do about that, usually if you tell them your not paying, they will go and bother someone else, the debt eventually become statute barred, vanishes from your file, and that`s that.
As for your partners debt, what type of debt is it ? when was it last paid, small debts don`t usually go to court, but collection activity may continue, up to them on that one.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Hi
annoying FD have decided to add a default to my account today over 2 years since my DMP started and over a year since my last default. If I pay it off sooner than my DMP date would I be able to ask them to remove it?Thanks

Hi
Has anyone had any experience with Scott&Mears? They are currently phoning me daily chasing an amount I am in arrears by but not the full amount I owe.The original creditor has yet to default me. Will they eventually stop and then chase me for the full value? Should I do anything about it in the mean time?
Thanks0
