annoying FD have decided to add a default to my account today over 2 years since my DMP started and over a year since my last default. If I pay it off sooner than my DMP date would I be able to ask them to remove it?Thanks

Has anyone had any experience with Scott&Mears? They are currently phoning me daily chasing an amount I am in arrears by but not the full amount I owe.The original creditor has yet to default me. Will they eventually stop and then chase me for the full value? Should I do anything about it in the mean time?
Thanks
You will remain on the contact list as long as you owe money and have not come to an arrangement with them.
Bear in mind they are only collectors acting on behalf of their client, so have no influence or power over events here, they may be noisy, but they are toothless, you can just ignore them.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. Evening all
10 month down the line and I’m starting to gain a little control and balance . I have agreed payment arrangements with most of my debts following default with one arranged payment awaiting default. I feel bit in no man’s land on the 2 accounts that have defaulted one in February and one in May with no communication received since . My question today -should I keep waiting for communication from someone (the debt could be in the process of being sold on) or write to the organisations now defaulted and try and agree payments ?It’s strange as following defaults I’ve had immediate correspondence from most but there appears to have been a bit gap with these two.Any thoughts/advice welcome , thanks in advance .0 -

Me & my partner have been on a DMP with StepChange for around 4 months now.
I have a few questions & hopefully someone can help point me in the right direction?
After looking at the credit files ALL debts are Defaulted which as I understand it that’s a good thing.
An old debt of my partners (£160) isn’t on any of her credit file’s but is included in the DMP - would be be better either not paying or offering a F&F settlement (as I assume it’s unenforceable)
We want to buy our first house around July 2024, however we have a total of 6 debts that will clear off the credit files before this date but based on our payments to the DMP plan it’s going to take around 3 more years to completely clear the DMP; Question is: once they’ve fallen off the credit file what’s the best way to deal with these?
I have a relatively small debt (£335) which comes off my file May 2025, I’m thinking of asking for the CCA for this debt as I avoided it for a while & it was sold a few times to various DCA to try and clear it off my credit file before wanting to get a mortgage
Thanks in advance for your help guys 😊
Try and save a good emergency fund as well, as further down the line, the settlement offers will come rolling in, so you can end the arrangement quicker by doing a settlement deal.
so without sounding daft - if the creditors don’t produce the CCA’s what happens next?
I’m guessing we still owe the money but cannot be taken to court etc..?Regarding my partners debt that’s not on any of the credit files - should she stop paying?
If they can`t produce compliant paperwork, and you choose not to pay, there is nothing much they can do about that, usually if you tell them your not paying, they will go and bother someone else, the debt eventually become statute barred, vanishes from your file, and that`s that.
As for your partners debt, what type of debt is it ? when was it last paid, small debts don`t usually go to court, but collection activity may continue, up to them on that one.
Ironically all of the debts we are talking about are with the same DCA, totalling around £3000.
We are going to start the ball rolling with the CCA’s…
thank you for your help 🤗0 -

Hi,
We are now into our 5th month of making no payments, still getting letters from Arvato and Moorcroft saying we need to contact the immediately to arrange a payment plan or they will default, I’m assuming we continue to ignore u til the defaults show?My husband also received a letter from Zopa saying it refers to the Default they issued on the 19th May, we haven’t received any default? And that they will now notify The credit reference agencies and this may result in Court action? Sorry for asking but it’s got us a bit worried? We’ve heard nothing else from our other creditors yet?0 -

Court action is normally only a reliable threat once a debt has been sold, and you do not cooperate with the new debt`s owner.
You must remember that thousands of accounts default on a regular basis, the courts would be jam packed if every case went through them, in most cases the original creditors offload there bad debts to collectors to chase, or as said before, they are sold on.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
