  • Hi there, have you heard of moonpig.com - they do personalised cards for all occassions, about 2.99 each and their great. Sometimes if you prepay £20 you get an extra £5.00 free!

I used to love Christmas until I had kids!

This is my first DFW Christmas and I luckily have some money put away so at least thats one less thing to worry about.

The big thing for me is cards. My family are really big on cards not the ones you get in a multipack but the £5 each type!

No idea what to get the kids so I usually end up paying a fortune for things that 11 months later are still in their packaging.

    Bah humbug! x x

making your own cards is a whole lot cheaper though and I think people are touched that you spent time and thought on them.
I bought some boxes out of woolies yesterday for £1 each and lots of sweeties to fill them (pound shop) after reading the retro sweetie thread - two pressies for about £4 tops!

This will be our 2nd XMas without the CCs, which is nice. We have saved for Xmas although the fund has taken a hit recently, we will build it up again. I always make 12 pints of Moose Milk for Xmas, it doesn't cost much and is enjoyed by most people. I use 2 '6' pint milk cartons. Here's the recipie I use:
3 pints of full fat milk, half a bottle of rum, half a bottle of Kahlua, half a carton of cornish ice cream and a pot of double cream. I also add cinnamon to give it that festive smell/flavour. You can of course choose to omit some of the ingredients and use the cheapest Rum you can find.

It took me all my courage to tell family and friends that we were not buying gifts for anybody, but the little ones, and only small gifts for our own children.
Much to my surprise, this appeared to go down really well. The rest of the family had already considered stopping all the present buying frenzy, but nobody wanted to be the first one to do it.

I think that most people think like that but feel that it might be seen as tight or mean.

I am adult and have my own money so can buy what I what I want. ot get something that I am not really keen on. And if you don't really know them that well makes it even harder. And I am always trying to watch my weight and people give me tins of sweets

I personally would forgo christmas myself. I too should have canceled it last year due to personal events. But no I was glutton for punishment and carried on as normal which I never should have done.

    Never mind.

    Yours

    Calley
