OS Sunday 4th November 2007

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sunday 10th November 2007. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Hola

Another case of fell asleep while watching TV, so woke around 5.30 am, just been doing the bank checking as its the start of the month, first coffee drunk, so the kettle will be on again shortly.

Well after a very mixed October, November seems to have remembered it should be warm and sunny here and got its act together, had a very lazy day yesterday.:o My excuse was I had been silly and not moisturised my heels and allowed them to crack (painful) so had to rest them to allow them to heal, so I could go to the market this morning.:D The second hand shop(s) who promised to come and buy my old bed off me did not materialise, and neither did they call to say they could not get so didn't go anywhere until after 5 pm. Now we have to find somewhere to put a king size matress and frame until Monday, and our friends arrive tonight to stay in the spare room which is where we hid it! It's not the Spanish with Mañana, but the British ex-pats who don't respect anything, and then claim it is the Spanish way!   rant over but I was mad yesterday.

Can't think of any more drivel to bore you with so will close with ((((hugs)))) all round.
Take care

Morning DONNYGAL - sorry to hear you're having 'bed' trouble but hope everything else is going well. We are having some mild sunny weather at the moment - when I say 'we', I can only speak for the South but I hope the rest of the UK is, as well.

(((HUGS))) to all who are in need.

Didn't get on the thread at all yesterday; seemed to have spent most of the day shopping (food and some more Christmas presents), then friends came round for an afternoon cuppa and, before I knew it, the day had just disappeared.

Plan today is a very small pile of ironing and the baking I should have done yesterday. DS1, DIL and grandchildren will be visiting this afternoon - after DS1 has finished his 10k race. I'm glad it's him and not me - I still feel worn out after the cold I had.

Well, off to have a read of yesterday's thread - hope everyone has a great Sunday; will call in later.

    Hi mioliere

Everything is going fine, I have really enjoyed being out here, and not really looking forward to going home apart from being able to be on line with Broadband (I will fix that for out here shortly) properly fix my laptop when I had some faster downloads and DS's Graduation. I have to go home and face some of my floors being replaced due to the water damage in June:eek:

There is really strong competition between food/drink providers out here and the prices are very cheap. The bar we were in the other night offered Fish, Chips and Peas, for 6€, just over £4, the fish was at least the size of the large fish is our local chippy at home, and cheaper than take out prices there. It's £3 for the fish alone. It looked really delish. We went out last week for a Menu del Dia (Meal of the day), which was a 3 course meal (with options for each course) served with a shared salad, glass of wine or beer or soft drink, plus a bottle of water, and bread for 9.50€ This was in a restaurant on the front overlooking the beach and sea, you could take as long as you wanted over this no rush at all.

Glad the weather is nice for you at the moment, though a little cool at night isn't it? We are showing 20 day and 12 night, but was 25 on our patio yesterday.

We have heard no fireworks out here yet, even though surrounded by ex-pats. They do have loads of firework displays all through the year, but not seen any bonfire parties advertised in local press. Can't say I've missed the fornight of bangers going off unexpectedly.

Amie - you snuck in - enjoy your trip to work. Mrs-Mix - Aussie Lass I see you two are lurking hi to you.

Good morning Donny, Moiliere & AMie & everyone else,

It's been so humid here today. The flies are out in plaque proportions. I've just come out from doing the yard with DH and they were driving me nuts. Was in the kitchen a bit this morning as I was a bit like old mother hubbard. I made some melting moments which are nice but not really an ideal biscuit for DGS. Think crumbs. :D

DD loved her trip to Melbourne. DGS was a bit cranky this morning but since he's had his sleep this arv has been good. He needed to catch up on some sleep. Well I'm off. Going to have a cool drink with DH on the verandah. I now have enough bottles to start my ginger beer plant off this week.

Hope you all have a lovely day. Byeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

Morning. All is well in Cornwall. Work was fairly quiet last night, so that made for a nice evening. Got to meet the big chief too.
Coffee, church, work, NFL today I think. Then back top packed lunches and normality tomorrow.

morning to everyone whos here and everyone whos coming by later.

im sitting here just chilling as dd is away for the weekend and no builders in.. Our builders over ran and im sick of the sight of them.. but its nearly over and ive got a lovely big kitchen and new bathroom which i was craving for.. our bathroom was horrible but now its lovely.. small and compact and nice.. we have had no privacy for the last 3 months and dust and stuff all over the house, but this should be the last week and then i have my house back to myself.. We also had most of the house skimmed with plaster so need to get the decorating sorted but have told my OH that im calling in all the favours we have given out over the years and if we get let down they going to be told a few home truths.. we always helping others now its our turn to be helped.. could all be over in one weekend instead of months..

have a nice day everyone and i will catch up with all the rest of todays news later

  • Morning all, looks like it's going to be another bright sunny day here, a fantastic treat for this time of year.

Yesterday was a blissful lazy day, got the Christmas pud put together :xmassmile and am about to go and put it in the steamer for the day. Drove to the shopping centre where I just about had enough time to pick up a few bits and pieces before meeting DD23 for a lovely meal in an Italian restaurant before driving to her concert hall and listening to her play. It was very foggy on the drive home but we could still see some fireworks through the fog.

Have to say, with OH away it is nice to have a whole bed to myself :rotfl: but he's on his way home so the peace won't last...

Today is Ironing Day,whoopie-do, but I have Strictly Come Dancing taped so will watch that in a moment after I've had a coffee and tackled that pud.

Have a great day, everyone! Hugs to all

    morning everyone!

Just on the hunt for my Tutankhamun Exhibition confirmation email this morning! Ive received my tickets for the Terracotta Army at the British museum but not the tutankhamun ones and need to remember what date ive booked!
Also I see the Ice Rinks are gettin put up everywhere for xmas! They are very popular now arent they?!

We didnt have many fireworks going off last nite. My kids are abit scared of them just yet - so we had a "mini-display" which comprised of sticking sparklers in the pumpkin head!! looked quite good actually!:rotfl:

Went to Toys R Us yesterday as they have reduced their toys and got Ben10 watch and Elefun reduced so saved £5 there!:D I suppose they have to compete with the supermarkets now! Its amazing how long you end up in there wandering round lookin at everything!! :rotfl:

DS1 is playing footie at the grounds near us today so I shall take the littleuns and do abit of "embarrassing mum" shouting from the touchline I think;) "wave my umbrella and say dont tackle my little boy":rotfl: (he is 23 btw!):rotfl:

DG - wish I had some of that 25 degs today!
mrsmix - sounds like you need some of that 25 deg heat for yr joints too! I used to have an old english sheepdog who hated the fireworks, I used to have to get tablets from the vets to make her drowsy thru it all!

Have a great sunday everyone xx
  • Morning Guys!

    Feeling abit better this morning:D :D:D:D :j :j :j :j :j :j    .....can you tell I'm pleased. I hope its going to continue...fingers x'd guys!!

OH & DD didnt go to the fireworks last night, so we stayed in and watched in the garden and treated ourselves to take-away which was the money it would have cost to get in, so no extra dosh spent.

OH bought me 2 Wispas yesterday from Nettos and have one left in the fridge which I will have in abit with a milky coffee.

Had another wedding invite for February 2008. This is posher than the last one we went too last month and we will probably stay over night at the hotel as its normally £900 a night and friends have booked a room for us as they have booked the wholse hotel of 26 rooms:eek:      ...they want us to all have breakfast with them:D ...I hope I will feel loads better by then.

WM and DW is on. Have a whole leg of lamb out for dinner as we have close friends coming round later and we thought we could do some extra for them as they have been having some problems recently. They can wash up though;)

Just chilling listening to Michael Jackson Greatest Hits....Billie Jean is my fav!! I love the 80's:D :D ...Bros...Wham...etc etc.

OH is sorting stuff for another Bootsale and DD upstairs doing her room and finishing her revision. DD drew the most brilliant picture this morning, so I have framed it and put it on the fire place. Its a picture of a tatty tessy bear and is great!! She's definitely got talent with her drawing:A

Anyway, Im gonna love and leave you.

    Hugs to all.
