Why Walk When You Can Fly

Morning,
DD had a sleep out last night with the local Guide units to raise money for Shelter. I dropped her off armed with boxes and snacks, was given a quick kiss and promptly dismissed once she'd seen her friends, she's going to be knackered today though :rotfl:
Need to pick her up a Guide top that someone is selling, she's outgrown the one she has and I don't want to pay extortionate prices for one that she's only going to wear for another two years....so need £5 for that, it's near the big tescos so I can pick up bits from there too.
My mum did something stupid! Because I'd said that I'd have liked my brother there when I do my trek, she messaged him to tell him  told her not to send him anything more about it.
I'm doing the annual town walk on Sunday, I've signed up for the 10 mile slot, so that should be interesting. Only three more training weekends left including tomorrow
Got lots to do this weekend and even more to do at work next week.0 -

Great news about losing the oaf at work, they should have listened to you!
Have a lovely weekend.

Sorry that I have been AWOL and not updated my diary.
I received a text on Sunday from my lovely friend to tell me that his wife didn't have long to go and that all the family were there. I received a phone call last night to tell me that she had died yesterday afternoon surrounded by all the family and that she was never left on her own. She is going to be missed big time, she was like a second mum to me and was one of those people that didn't mince her words and told it to you straight
I did my walk on Sunday, it took a little longer than I have done in the past but it was good, I'm confident that the trek will be ok.
Picked up DD from her sleep out Saturday morning, she looked knackered and DH ended up having to wake her up Sunday morning.
Got DD's guide top, the lady said that her daughter only wore it a few times and looking at it, it is virtually brand new. DD's old one is on FB market place now.
The atmosphere in the site office is totally differentit shows how much of a drain on everyone's energy he was. Everyone seems more upbeat and refocused on the project.
Trying to sort out DS's work experience is proving to be a nightmare. The communication from the school is confusing to say the least. Hopefully if HR agree, DS will be coming to site with me but it all depends on the Risk Assessment that was done yesterday.
We have DS's parent's evening tonight, I doubt it will be a good one but we'll see.0 -
Sorry to hear the sad news of your friend
We gave up on the work experience for DS. The school wouldn't budge in letting them try anywhere else that wasn't on their set list that they sent out. We got permission off a few places that DS was interested in but the school wasn't having it. Some of the places they had were ridiculous.. Work experience in the vape shop?! So DS will just be staying in school and helping out in the drama department.
Good luck at parents evening.SPC 0760 -
The school is ridiculous, they use an outside company that has 80 placements available, out of 200 kids that is stupid IMO. There is an option for kids to organise their own placements but this wasn't made clear so DS and a few others put down both options and got told off for it **rolls eyes**0

I'm very sorry to hear about your friend, she sounds like a great loss
.
Work experience is tricky. Our schools had some reasonable options; DS1 worked in a public library and DS2 in a shop, but DS3 had the best job as he worked in a martial arts academy for a week :rotfl:. I hope DS can come into work with you. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Afternoon,
Isn't the weather lovely? It really makes all the difference to things.
Sent off a condolence card to my lovely friend today, he should hopefully get it Saturday. It still doesn't seem real and I'm sure it won't sink in with him until the funeral.
Parent's evening was chaotic but ok, we ended up missing one teacher.
Picked DD up from Guides to be reminded about half term camp...I'd totally forgotten about it so messaged her leader for details about if I've paid for it in full....I can only find the details for the deposit.
DS has been told that he and a few other cadets have got a place at the RAF Cosford Air ShowNot a bad deal for £2.
DS has also been told that the IOW camp is now on the board in the Sqn hut, so to sign up for it.
I am so glad that I now have the other savings account, as I think I am going to need it. DD camps so far this year = 3 plus the major one next year, of which the deposit has been paid.
Looking at my spreadsheet thingy, I should be able to reduce the BC by half this month, I am looking forward to this one going.
I should be able to reduce the OD by £300 too, I was going to wait until the end of June but I want to see some improvement on that side of things.
My car is booked in for a service on the 10th June or at least I think I did it right on the website, I'm waiting a call back to confirm .
The pots will be drastically reduced this month/next month but I get the fun of building them back up again :rotfl:
SSE have confirmed that I am now switched over to them :T so hopefully in 3-4 months my cashback will have cleared. That will be added to the pots.
Surveys have been done, nearly at halfway point for payout on PB but still along way off payout on OP.
6 working days until DH gets paid, it can't come soon enough!0 -
Forgot to mention, DH and I were discussing the mortgage and I said to him it is likely that once this fixed rate deal runs out and we have renewed it, then we may be in a position to overpay it even if it is a slight bit.0
