  • I was once told that its a good idea to make a plan of where you want to be in 6 years from now. I was told that the plan should be no more than 5-6 items, any more than it is overwhelming and any less and you have nothing to aim for. I have done this most of my life, sometimes it works and sometimes 'life' gets in the way and the plan doesn't happen.

I have thought for sometime about where I want to be financially and I have made my plan and finalised it.
    • All annual bills paid in full each year
    • All debt paid off – Aim 5 years
    • Money in savings
    • Overpay mortgage
    • Budget better

DS will be coming up to 20 and DD will be coming up to 17 by then and I don't want this to carry on, I'd like for us to help them financially if and when they need it.

My personal six year plan is a lot different but moving house was on it and that has happened, so that is going the right way.

Putting this here so I can remember what I want to happen and give myself a virtual kick up the whatsit!

That's a good idea to regularly remind yourself of your goals, I think I will do mine today to give myself a focus and then plan accordingly. I'm determined to have savings for the first time in my life, at the age of 42 that's quite sad but at least I can advise my kids not to go down the same path.

Hope your head is better, H x

Huggle, I'm the same but 43 on Thursday  my DD I think would be able to budget as she is quite level headed and savvy as for DS, well we all know from my diaries just what he's capable of :o

My head is a lot better thanks, I jinxed myself though, I said a few months ago that I hadn't had a migraine for a few years now and BAM I end up waking up with one...that'll teach me! lol

Glad you are feeling better now. Good luck to DH with his appointment.

I'm 41 and still trying to get some savings together, we are all in the same boat. At least hopefully our kids will be better than us!

Nice to know that I am not the only one in the 40's club :D

I'm hoping the same jwil, they can't be any worse that's for sure lol
  • Spoke to the Project Manager about tomorrow morning and he has said that I can work from home in the afternoon, as there is no point coming to site for such a short amount of time :j that'll save mileage on my car and means that I can just get straight on and get work done rather than wasting time on the motorway.

Got my lunch with me today.

Unnecessary spends today will be on cakes for the site office, as I am not in on Thursday.
  • I'm glad your migraine is better, that sounds awful :(. I hope DH's glaucoma appointment goes well.

I'm in the fifties club :( and had no savings until recently but I'm hoping to save most of the PPI refund. It's never to late to change your life though :).
