  • Morning,

Pay day tomorrow and the PPI cheque should've cleared by then too :j

Looking forward to making some payments tomorrow and to clearing more of the debt.

Home insurance came through and despite doing a price comparison they can't beat our renewal so staying put for the moment. I can't pay for it outright this year but I am hoping to next year once the pots have built up.

DH's car insurance must be due soon, need to check on that.

Kids are back to school today much to DS's disgust lol.

Brought my lunch with me today, left over BBQ stuff from Sunday.

Need to go to Tesco tonight as DD has cookery tomorrow and only told me last night that she needs ingredients **rolls eyes**
  • So the universe appears to be conspiring against us, when we are trying to get our act together.

HMRC appear to have overpaid DH last month....wondered where that extra money had come from. Queue last month it was chucked in the savings (just in case!) roll forward to this month and HMRC have claimed it back....ok...initial shock as DH only getting paid £500 this month. After some working out, we can transfer the money DH was overpaid over, plus his pay this month and the remainder of the PPI and hey presto his salary is covered for the month!

DH is in a quandary again now though and doesn't want the £750 paid off the OD...told him I am still going to do it and explained the above.
  • I think the overdraft is the little black horse of debt, when I watched MSE show the other week it really hit home. I'm paying about £80 a month too compared to £20 odd interest on the credit card. A no-brainer really to get shot of it.

Your glasses are so expensive, mine only have a simple prescription so generally only cost about £10 from Gl**ses D*rect.

How annoying r.e. the HMRC payment but glad you have enough to cover it.

  • How annoying that HMRC overpaid DH. Why can't they get it right ? Isn't it lucky that you put the extra amount in savings and didn't spend it :T.

I hope DH sees the sense in your logic with regard to the PPI money.

  • I spoke to DH and to cut a long story short they offered to loan him some money if needed. DH told them thank you but not needed.

DH is also now ok about the OD payment. I can't do that until tomorrow or possibly Friday, as the cheque needs to clear and I need to move money about. It's good getting the cheque but we are still showing as in minus numbers.
  • Funny how HMRC are allowed to make mistakes but we can't when it comes to them...

Sorry to hear about hmrc but sounds like you are sorting it. That overdraft fee is extortionate. It's ridiculous that they are allowed to charge so much x
  • Well done on not spending the extra last month. Glad you got through to your OH about the extortionate overdraft charges and sensible decision to reduce the overdraft. That is way more important than reducing credit cards as overdrafts can be withdrawn at any time and unless your credit cards are charging 34+% interest they are likely to be a lot cheaper than the overdraft.

  • Morning,

After moving money about, I have paid £750 off the OD :j it does mean that the pots are a bit more depleted but for the first time in 10+ years things are moving.

I have paid the LC and the Cap One but couldn't find out why the transaction for my glasses wasn't on the Cap One card...turns out DH had put it on the Barclaycard along with something else.

    Payments made:

    Lloyds OD - £750
    Lloyds CC - £100
    Cap One - £53.42
    Total - £903.42

I still need to pay the MBNA but the new layout means that they haven't set up availability to pay by card yet, so need to set up faster payments for it once I get home and dig the card out.

My plan for March has changed slightly and I need to revisit the goals I set the other week.

DD has parents evening tonight and she is making lemon cheesecake today.

    Back shortly x
